How to decide what postage to charge
When listing an item on quicksales you can select one of the following postage options.
- Free postage
- Flat postage – all buyers see the same cost
- Flat postage by location (allows different postage rates for different AU states)
- Calculated postage – cost will vary by buyer postcode (only Australia
Post Regular and Express services available)
- Temando - works out best delivery cost
What's this?
- See item description / postage instructions
- No postage – local pickup only
Items with 'Calculated postage' will display the accurate Australia Post domestic
postage cost in the listing, based on the buyer’s postcode (the cost is retrieved
from Australia Post in real-time). Regular and Express services can be selected
when you list the item.
Items with 'Temando' will display the cheapest delivery cost by comparing multiple
carriers within the quicksales/Temando system. quicksales and Temando have joined forces
to give you access to a wide range of freight carriers and couriers at unbeatable
prices. This new innovative system will allow you to quote, book and track freight
shipments directly from quicksales.

The postage price depends on the weight of the parcel and distance.
Because buyers of quicksales are located in all states of Australia we recommend you
use the Calculated postage - cost will vary by buyer postcode option
when listing an item or alternatively, include the measurements of the parcel and
your lodgement postcode in the listing's Postage Details. This will allow any buyer
to see the accurate Australia Post domestic postage cost or estimate the postage
cost and avoid you missing a sale.
- Weigh the parcel
- Measure the parcel's dimensions - length, height and width
- Use the Calculated postage - cost will vary by buyer postcode option
and enter the weight and dimensions when listing the item
or alternatively, include the measurements and your postcode in the 'Postage Details'
as per below
For example - see screenshot where the seller includes details to assist the buyer:

Cubic Weight
(used when the cubic weight is greater than the actual weight - e.g. a parcel
that doesn't weigh much)
Note: For parcels over 1kg that are square or rectangular in shape, the cubic weight
is used if this is greater than the actual weight. Australia Post will assess charges
according to their actual weight or cubic weight equivalent, whichever is greater.
The cubic weight is the parcel's volume in cubic metres multiplied by 250.
e.g. a parcel measuring 40cm long (0.4m) x 20cm high (0.2m) x 30cm wide (0.3m) is
equal to 0.024 cubic metres. The cubic volume multiplied by a conversion factor
of 250 gives the cubic weight of 6kg, i.e. 0.4 x 0.2 x 0.3 = 0.024 x 250
= 6kg.
