Windows Explorer
Hi, Over the long while i have been having a problem opening my downloads folder. I open it and within a few seconds it says it has to close down and will look for a solution, blah, blah. It just crashes. Can't do nything with the folder except put things in.
Have looked all over the net and tried many things  but i came across this and i think it is working, i've been in and out of my folder and manipulated my files.

"When opening certain mkv files that i knew where not viruses my windows would automatically shut down. The whole folder would become usless and i wasnt even able to delete it. i was getting the message, windows explorer is shutting down then it woudl restart. I searched everywhere on the internet to find answers and did everything from scaning my comp for viruses right to comtemplating touching my registry but the answer was so simple that i feel like such a dumb a** for wasting so much time on this.

A lot of poeple said stuff about fixing the thumbnails and i actually tried it but i un ticked the wrong thing so it didnt work but if you are having this same problem this is how I fixed it.

I opened up a folder that was usable and went into the top left hand of the folder and clicked organize, then i went into folder and
search options and then clicked view.

now the first time i did this i unticked display files on thumbnails thinking that was what people meant, when really i needed to tick the very top option which is always show icon, never thumbnails

This is for windows 7 but you can find the same folder options on vista and so on."

Hope this helps others.

cheers, staffy
