what is the best way of getting rid of an internet stalker??
I have an internet stalker, who has spammed me since July 2010. I have reported this to police with no action so far. He is doing this to others to. He can forge headers and uses a remote carrier (uk) but he lives in Australia
He has started an account on here too.
Any advice? I have had to almost stop selling on the internet because of him.
Thanks in advance.

Keep blocking and ignore all emails from any of his addresses.  NEVER reply, if you ignore him he will soon tire of it as he doesn't get the desired response.

Totally agree with boo. The more attention he gets, the more that dooes it. Ignore him, men hate that.

Good one! well, he has even started emails in my name, that I cannot get rid of. I have tried to ignore it, but joining me to dating sites and scam sites makes it impossible to ignore unfortunately.

Can you get his email address? Does it say which service provider he is with? If its not a generic one like hotmail, you can contact the service provider that his email address is with and report that he is stalking you.

He has a yahoo email, they have been great in removing all the ones he fraudulently started in my name, but not his address. I have asked them to do this, but no action unfortunately

damn!!! I think you just have to keep reporting him. When he sends you an email, does it come up with his full name?

I know who he is, he rented a room from me for a couple of weeks till I realized he was weird. This was last June! But he has my details too, and has nothing else to do but spam and harrass people from a library or internet cafe

I wonder if your ISP will give you a new email account and for the time being transfer all the emails from the old account to the new one until you update your email addy to all those concerned ?

I'm sure they can redirect mail like that especially if you can proof you have had to take previous action . Why not call them and ask for advise . If he's using a remote server and changing his IP details he still will have a trail via the emails he sends you , they can probably use them to locate or block the servers he's using .

Use the email addy for here only for qs , and maybe change that every now and then .

Definitely do not reply to any of the attempts to contact you.

What you can do is either this:

Open another email address ( a generic one like hotmail or something alike) and only transfer addresses from your current one to your new one. (you can also use another name for this)

or

You can ask your service provider to open another account but they may charge you termination costs as all (most internet plans are under contract)
Also if you do do this, it will be under your name. Your service provider will not use a different name.

The first option is what I would do. Its easy for you establish and less expensive too.

thanks, yeah, good advice, I just wanted to keep the email address I have had since 1996 and am resentful that a moron who has no life can do this. I have contacted the remote bulk email provider that he uses in the UK, but I just wanted to get ideas from the great people on here. I have been on this site for 6 years, and everyone has been so helpful. Thanks oztionites, I will think about changing email addresses, it is just that I am a traveller, and some of my traveller friends only contact me once a year; it will be a long time before I can permanently change addresses if I decide to do that.

Timewarp, dont change your email address.

Just open up another one. Organise so that when your friends email you, their email wont go to your old email address, it will go to your new one. You still get to keep your old address to do this.

which is why I suggested you talk to your ISP , they may be able to give you a new addy but still forward mail from the old one for an x period of time .

Thanks Marie, yes I did, but then it was only for a couple of days around the full moon per month. Since 24th Dec, I have had over 700! It is escalating, do not know why, but insanity is as it is I guess.

I have 3 email addresses, 1 hotmail, 1 yahoo, but he is only targetting the private one that I do not use for selling online. Do not ask me why, I have no idea. But yes, I decided to put all the spam in one folder and that is how many I have. And I have probably accidentally deleted about 100.

ok!! With the contacts that are in your private email address, you can look through your settings and organise those email addresses to be forwarded to one of the other email addresses.

This guy is a nuissance. He abviously has nothing better to do with his time. He needs to get a life.

Thanks for advice. I have contacted the head library in Sydney telling them about him and giving them his details, so if they block him from getting a library card in NSW that will do a lot to help the problem. But I am going to continue fighting it for a few more days as I have set my stuff up the way I wanted it, and he has no right to identity theft! Thanks again, it makes me want to keep on selling, instead of just giving up online stuff!

Thanks very much for that info. I reported him to oztion for sending me a sick email. He is now a member on here with a rating of 0, he joined on 7/1, and they just told me to block him and if he sends 2 others to members his acct will be stopped. Wow. I already blocked him anyway. But I have found out which library in qld he is using, so will ring them today.

Hi have you gone to the police? They do have a cyber crimes unit sounds like this person needs a visit from the police.

You have proof, id be chatting to them. The fact that its escalating is a real concern.

Yes I'd go to the police, they might be able to help you with an intervention order - OK you wil have to go to court, but if you can get it done and he contacts you or uses your name to join sites etc - he WILL be charged.

Had a similar problem last year - except it was with text messages and phone calls on a mobile and ringing the home line and hanging up - freaky little bi*ch, she finally got the message and yes was on medication

Ignore him, they don't get any fun out of it if you do, this one sent 80 or 90 text messages in one night and some of them would blow your mind - most were to hubby, then she started on me with tales of what they had done etc.  Strangely she thinks she's normal hahaha

Thanks everyone, the support is overwhelming.
Rang the qld library today and was put thru to IT support. Sent the emails proving he was doing it from there. They seem quite efficient, and it looks like he was there most of the day, he sent me about 40 before 3.30, then none??? Do not know what happened yet, but when I get more info from the bulk carrier in the UK I will know what to do, and can let everyone know what is happening.
What a great community!

attention!!! he is a homeless nothing because of his own actions in the past. doing this gives him the only happiness he can get in life. nice huh? Anyway am following up with Police today, letting them know what I found out. Would have been nice to get an avo and present it to him whilst he is in the library, unfortunately the system does not move fast enough.
Thanks again everyone, wish there was so much support and advice in the outside world as there is on here.

An update for anyone interested in the stalker issue:
He is using computers in the Library of Queensland that are available to homeless, backpackers, travellers. They are given a pin number because they do not have a library card, or enough ID, and can use the services for 20 mins at a time. So the library does not have an account for the stalker that they can close.
Mmm a trip to  brisbane might be necessary. Have not been there since 1983, will be a bit freaky, but he cannot get away with this. I am not the first victim, and I will not be the last.
