What is safe?
To use in testing genuine coral.
Would like to test the coral I bough from another site to see if it is real or a excellant copy.
another thread poster mentioned an acid, but which one?
At the moment it is living with my other real coral, but would like to know if it should be allowed to stay there or if it needs moving to another area.
Yes we have gem discrimination   here with every item divided into its own area(class)

Google ?

According to most chemistry sites on the net, the "acid test" the
geologists use to test minerals uses either dilute hydrochloric acid
(<10% solution) or dilute acetic acid (vinegar).

the methods mentioned above would
be used by a gemologist to test if the coral was genuine or not.
Additionally, they could take a Refractive Index reading, and with
microscopic could observe growth lines, small pits and areas of
branching.

Get yourself a 'Crown of Thorns Starfish', if he eats it then it's a fair bet it is genuine coral, if he turns his.....nose / tentacles up at it then it is not the real deal

Best to check the label, if it says 'nine out of ten housewives agree that this product is ok for testing coral' then you can't go wrong

Why would you test it if it's a bracelet and damage it ? Take it to a Jeweller who for a few $ can do a test,

Better still leave the stuff in the ocean .

Coral is mostly calcium carbonate (limestone). It will fizz if you add some acetic acid (vinegar).
