What about to put CERTAIN items or CATEGORIES (in vShops) on Sale / discounted
I think it would be great if we could have further flexibility in being able to put on SALE certain sections of a vShop, e.g. books, instead of having your WHOLE shop on sale.

I think it would add some flexibility, and also the ability to show that prices are reduced for a time period, versus being able to adjust prices via editing.

What do other people think?  Am I crazy, whistling in the dark, or is it a good idea?

Personally, it wouldn't be high on my priority list. I use the sale feature regularly and there is already flexibility to decide what items are included and what are not, just by adding or removing bn prices. It might be nice, but it's not that important to me.

I think it is a great idea.  I have more room to move on some items and less on others with regard to percentage off so to have it on certain sections would be very helpful in my opinion.

Yes auscharm, that was the reasoning behind my suggestion :-).

Obviously a higher priced item has more margin for movement versus a smaller item as you've mentioned. Especially if  you take into account the costs of fees, Paypal fees (if you offer that) stationery and packaging material pls the ever increasing postage costs etc, etc.  

You've echoed my thought processes, but I find that other people often come up with great suggestions too, and we all need good ideas given how slow things have been on QS lately.

I appreciate all feedback placed so far as you're helping my brain muddle through for a solution too

MC - I have often wished for the flexibility to be able to choose which items/categories are included in a sale. With over 1700 items currently listed, there is no way I can wear a similar percentage amount reduction on all items. So I don't have sales, but do adjust prices downwards regularly.
