Weird message and cant sign in
 I just downloaded the latest version of EL - after it asked me to unistall the old one.

But when I open it it comes up with this message - Error Object refereence not set to instance of an object

I close the message and put in my log in details but the same Error message just comes up again

I have tried opening and closing the program several times but nothing changes.

What's going on and what do I do??

same here can't sign in and weird msg coming up. Any one got any answers?

If you both just downloaded a new version and you both have the same problem I would suggest..delete this version.
wait a day or two then download again. techs could be working on it?.

The following was in an EL thread in October last year re Object reference not set to an instance of an object

Express Lister Issues

There have been some reports related to the Express Lister version released on Tuesday 18th October. It appears that it may not have worked properly on 64bit Windows operating systems.

A new version was released at 5.30pm today the 20/10/2011 that addresses these issues.

To install the new version, you must uninstall the old version first.

ok so I uninstalled it, re installed it and it still won't work, same msg

That message
"Error Object reference not set to instance of an object."
usually means that you are (ie the program) not connected to the internet.
Look at the bottom of the EL page and see if a green connected symbol is there.
You might also find it helpful to turn the computer off, wait a minute and then turn it back on.
( restart is not the answer)

It sounds like an error with the Coding , something the techies would need to fix so let them know asap so they can get onto it.

 I did see that post about the problem being fixed - but it didnt seem to have worked 

That day I uninstalled and reinstalled EL about 7 times - always following the directions - and still got the same result.

I'm about to give it one last shot - hopefully something has changed and it works.

With the amount of stuff I want to post I certainly don't want to do it individually on site!!

 Nope - no good.

Unistalled and reinstalled twice.

Ran repair twice

Still nothing.

Did note that on the bottom it says Status: disconnected.

Would that have anything to do with it?

Thats the message you get when theEL  program is not connected to QS on the internet.
Did you sign in with your current details? ie exactly the same on both EL & QS?

 Tried all of the above - got a reply from Admin who told me to un install then re install - didn't work.  I have my son here at the moment and he is near the end of doing a certificate 4 in IT something or other and he can't fix it either.  Have told Admin that it didn't work - just waiting for the next lot of help :(

it worked for me so hopefully it will work for everyone else too (now my son is kicking himself because he said he should have thought of that lol)

But it's good news bad news

I downloaded and installed both files because I am running 64 bit.

I downloaded EL fine. It actually opened and I signed in fine.

Then it runs a check for updates - which is fine.

But then when I try to create a new item an error box pops up :(

It's a big one too, it says - Unhandled exception has occurred in your application...............An error occurred creating the form. See Exception.InnerException for details. The error is: The type initializer for 'SpiceLogic.WinHTMLEditor.HTMLEditor' threw an exception.


Then there was a huge amount of stuff in the Details box underneath which I cant copy and paste because it exceeds the character length for a message here.

I press Continue for the program to try to continue as is says it will, then the program just closes.

I just don't know what to do anymore!!

This is ridiculous!!!
