They would freeze their scales off here at the moment, but I think most people who live in areas that there are snakes watch out for them all year round.

Ahh nice.  Can't say I'm a fan, but I don't mind them if they are out in the paddocks and nowhere near me, have had them under the house before too and mating outside the laundry door, curled up in a corner near the patio door, inside and then in the linen closet - all in Galwer Sth Aust. don't think I have seen any here in North Central Victoria yet - but hubby has seen them - about 7/8 foot long eeww - had a close encounter late last year - he was walking 2 horses to the paddock and thinking about where to put the next load of hay - looked down and a huge brown was rearing up at him - dopey horses dragged him towards it, luckily it thought better of it and disappeared!

Hello
I have seen two in the last couple of weeks. One at the kitchen door and one near the front verandah. Both of these sightings were at night so I now take a torch with me.

Evening all.....

Don't be a fool like I was and think that snakes go to their homes and sleep come dark time....no..no...no....they don't.

I had a habit of putting my washing on the line come dark and in bare feet thinking that snakes go to sleep in the dark..hahaahah... Oooh NO they don't.

That's when some go out to feed......
.......was sooooo close to a brown snake one evening that I could have touch it...thank goodness for my brave dog..(Bear)..who was by my side and barked furiously that made me run to the back door and turn the light on....I thought it must have been a prowler....but no........a b***dy big brown snake.

So take care......no more washing on the line come dark for me in bare feet..........
