valuations question
I have a vintage brooch signed Cherny 18K I bought as part of an estate lot. (not selling it at the moment) I also have some other items that I am not sure of the value of these either. Who would you reccommend I go and see to get a valuation of these items?  A jeweller or antiques store?
Cheers Sylvia

If you want a proper valuation you will need to go to a jeweller and pay for a written valuation - this you can then include as part of the sale.  Just remember the valuation and actual resale price are totally different things.  A valuation is usually for insurance purposes only not an indication of what you can get for an item.  A valuation may state an item is worth $500 but the resale value is only $200.

Usually antique dealers will quote you a price that they would pay to acquire it and then sell for up to 200% more.

Hi Sylvia ,most Libraries will have books on apprasing Antique Jewellery or you can reserve them ( most Libraries are online)

The Official Identification and Price Guide to Antique Jewelry is a good start .

Great if you need to check numerous items , then you can also use Google to see if similar items have sold/are for sale and what for etc.

Have you tried putting it into Google?    I just put in Cherny 18k brooch and some very nice items came up.   They look like high class items.
