two questions
To all the jewellry buffs

what is meany by thermoset when applied to a brooch or other article of jewellry

Also what are trade beads and what is their distincting   characteristec

Trade beads are old beads, made by 'primitive' peoples to use as trade items or as a money alternative.
Many African Trade beads are made of glass. I do not think there is an easy way to identify a trade bead.  They are usually very old, as trade beads are not in use these days, as far as I know.
I suggest some intensive research if you need to know more.

I am not too sure about thermoset, but I think it may be a sort of resin that is heated to a shape and can't go back again.  I hope someone else will know more.

Thermoset  is close to Lucite....so you can look up Lucite for a better explanation.

It was a type of Resin/Plastic that was manufactured in bright and vivid colours....very popular in the late 40's and throughout in the 50's

Seems to command a higher price than even rhinestones.
