The Crinkly Family Going To NZ ..... : ) ..
As said in title we are planning a fly/drive holiday to New Zealand this year , I know that there a few that lived there from , I can't wait , any advice is greatly appreciated , Did I say I'm really excited , lol .....

I loved New Zealand. Such a beautiful place. Are you going North or South island (or both)?

We did the south island for 3 months during the ski season and loved every minute. We had 5 girls in a mobile home- pretty funny :)

Hi crinkly,

I have just returned from doing a cruise around both islands - seven ports where we did tours. Make sure you see Napier. This city was almost completely destroyed by an earthquake in 1931 and it is full of art deco buildings and homes for which it is famous all over the world. The council pays for the paint so that the buildings and homes are kept up to scratch.

On the whole, New Zealand is fabulous. However, we took a trip on the Trans Alpine train from Christchurch and paid $289.00 for the privelege - it wasn't worth it.

The Bay of Islands is just magnificent - could have spent weeks there.

fantastic country
if you get up to russell in the bay of islands there used to be a little shop that sold hand made mice in a variety of costumes
would love to buy them of you if you could grab a few
and have a wonderful time

Have a great time! If going to the south island I recommend Milford Sound, Queenstown, Christchurch is nice also. There was a place called the Amazing Maze world (something like that) which was corny but good, can't exactly remember where though, one of the small towns. If you have young ones going or if you're into extreme, do the bungy jump, zorbing & hellofajet tours through the canyons- very good.

There was also a little aquarium place in one of the smaller towns where a guy would hand feed pirahnas.

And don't forget the many many wineries on the way, they are truely beautiful! Oh you have to go to a hot spring! Just don't put your head under the water. Hmm... its making me want to go back!

Oh and don't feed the Kea- you will know why when you get there. LOL

have a great holiday crinkly, you will absolutely lurve NZ....we look on it as our second home and were planning on moving there 31 years ago when I found out I was pregnant while over there and came back to Aussie     sigh      but we have been back 7 times with our tribe of kids in tow the last trip (finally on our own :)) was Nov/Dec last year and we are going back again April/May this year. Lucky for us we have friends there we can visit any time.  Take your raincoat to Milford sound LOL...........I lurve the fishing and hubby does the hunting with the boys thang.

Thanks everyone for coming in and sharing your experiences with me , we are on the countdown now , just over a month to go .....
