oh boy.  take as little as possible.  no more than 2 cups and minimal plates.  the less you take, the less stacks around in the way in the form of washing up.  just minimise everything you can.  what else can one say?  I put everything in little plastic baskets.  Keeps things together.  also that non slip rubber stuff you can get to put under things, stops them moving everywhere when  you're moving.  I have all the cupboards lined with it.  Make sure your fridge door has a lock on it.  Our first trip out, we opened the door, to be greeted by a dozen broken eggs just inside the door lol.  eeeeeew what a mess.  just don't take anything unless it's absolutely necessary. oh and don't forget some soap powder and pegs. coins for washing machines, and have a ball.

I traveled for a year and lived out of a bckpack (which is a bit smaller lol). What I did was if I would see something I really wanted to buy I would post it to my parents who would keep it for me. Also you need to do a test run to see which clothes are most versitile and practicle to take. As to books...get some from opshops and donate the ones that you have read. Kitchen items...just keep the basics, you will get used to having less. Some kitchen appliances have more functions so get one that you can use for more things.

As to storring...I really think that plastic storage baskets with a lid can keep you very organised. It is also easier to repack everything in the car.

Like said, take a test run as best way to learn is from mistakes. It also depends on how long you are going for. My husband and I went to WA camping for 2 weeks and we had a tent and everything in the car. Most campsides have barbeques so if you need to carry a seperate cooktop (or whatever you call them) it is sometimes not worth taking them. Just keep it simple.
