Sizzix VS Cuttlebug / Cricut etc etc
Crafters.........I need your advice please....If (and a big IF) I was to buy one of these DIE Cut Machines, which is the best?  How do prices compare? Advantages & disadvantages? Variety of Dic Cuts able to be made etc......By the couple I have seen online for sale, they are not cheap, so I want to know as much as I can about each so I know what to buy....Also, where besides online here can I purchase?  Id like to check them out in a B&M store as I have never seen them apart from online...any help appreciated please

I have a Sizzix and lots of variety and easy to use I LOVE IT!!! But l have seen what can be made with a cricut too hmmmmmm but l wont let my sizzix out of my sight l have thousands of dies and l can use cuttlebug dies, sizzlits with a converter and so many other die cuts with it.

Hard choice so l wish you luck!  I do have a electric die cutter its a Xyron and its left in the cupboard as l dont use it.  >>>>>>>>>>>>>back to bath and get kids to bed again lol

Hi i will try and help you with what i am happy with. I got a sizzix first a few years ago. I love it, BUT they are deleting a lot of the dies. So when you see a die you have to grab it. I also have a cuttle bug, i am not happy with it as the die are to small for me to handle. But it will take a lot of other brand dies. Now last week i got a slice machine it's great but if you are going to use it for selling you will go through a lot of blades fast. Also with the sizzix cutting mats are getting harder and harder to fine, i grab them when i see them.
Thanks
K

Thanks for replys so far.....can you remember what you paid for the machine/ cutter ? I'm just not sure what the average price would be to outlay to begin with......I won't be "selling" the die cuts (so much competition out there) but will be using them for something else I plan I selling (sshhh!!!! it's still a secret) so will maybe cut a few..(plus personal scrapbooks)..when you mention suzzie that you go through the blades fast, how fast is fast? (I know, how long is a piece of string...) are the blades reasonably priced to replace...?

Suzieanna is right in saying about dies but l bought a lot from auctions from other s selling and they still are making new ones :) The cuttlebug dies are usable in the sizzix to, and l also like the small roller sizzix l use mine alot.  A sizzix cant break done as its not mechanical like a cricut, only way the red sizzix die cutter could break is if you smash it with a sledge hammer l guess lol.

Nut a lot of different things are made from a cricut too l just find them boring to use as it does all the work and you dont where as a sizzix you can see what YOU made lol.  Its a hard decision but maybe some sites you could google to help you.

I have a cuttlebug and I love it and I will never part with it, you can use any brand dies in the cuttlebug and I absolutely love the embossing folders as well. Lincraft have the cuttlebugs although I would never buy any of my dies from there as they are too expensive I have bought all my dies online and have bought them so much cheaper.

I bought a Cricut from my LSS for $430 just before Xmas....now I know it's a lot of money to outlay, absolutely no argument from me regarding that.......now here comes the big BUT....  I also bought a program called Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) from Craftedge  for $75US less 10% coupon, at xmas it worked out to AU$98 yup another outlay, another BUT (lol) now I never need to buy a cartridge, you can turn so many images into a .svg which is the cutting file, pretty much every die you can find out there for a sizzix machine or whatever brand, you can convert a pic into a cut file, even the cartridges for cricut, you can convert the images into cut files, it's amazing... you can cut ANY true type font that you have installed on your computer, quite a lot of the dingbat fonts too, silhouettes are an absolute breeze, layered images and paper piecing patterns, honestly, the sky is the limit with the machine.  Blades for the cricut, can be purchased from sellers of another site in the US, they are Roland Blades, you can get several for the same price as you will pay for 2 of the cricut brand in Australia, as for the mats, clean them with a alcohol free nappy wipe, recoat them with a mixture of Craft Smart Off n On Glue and water, they will give you so much extra use.

I wouldn't live without my Cricut now, and if it wasn't for finding out about SCAL I never would have bought one.... only reason I relented and paid out the 2 costs was that I'm sick of paying truckloads of dollars everytime I want a different picture or alphabet to cut out.

Check out my BLOG to see some of the things I've cut out with the program and cricut, files are available there for free download also.

Cheers Kris :)

I have the pull down handle sizzix machine, the side kick and now the big shot, Love the big shot the best, find i use it all the time, still love the side kick for the smaller die's and also still use the pull down handle one a bit, if i was buying one now I would go for the big shot will do all types of dies, wouldn't look at the pull down handle one, but then again I wouldn't sell mine either, much prefer the roller type
Can't go wrong with it,
