Selling jewellery - what is the click rate like
Hello!  I am a newbie to Oztion.  I was wondering if anyone can share with me their experience selling jewellery on the site.  What is the click rate like?  I've listed some items for a day now and there doesn't seem to be many clicks (that is, zero clicks) on the item.  Is this normal?

Hello and welcome,I cleared my clicks on Friday and I have 3 clicks all together on all my items........very slow lately for some products.

If you are used to selling elsewhere you will find this site rather slow.  It could depend on what you sell also.  I only have a few items here  and I am lucky if I get 10 clicks a month.

As they say don't hold your breath waiting.

I have sold sterling silver jewellery,,i find that its mainly around Christmas's time,when men want some thing sent to their wife's in secret..How ever you only have 17 thing amongst the thousands of things here so your kinda hard to find..also you have only credit card registered I personally would be hesitant in sending a $100 to a credit card only person..also try and buy some items and have a bit of feed back so people know that you are trustworthy...
These are just my opinion...
Have fun selling..and don't listen to the naysayers Oztion can and does allow you to make money,as selling is heaps cheaper than the Bay....

Greetings & Welcome! I've sold costume jewellery & beads. Postage cost is a big factor. Oztion buyers prefer actual postage cost, along with an explanation of item weight & how it will be packed for posting.

I love your Celtic locket!

Perhaps list a few more items in other categories? I find the scattergun approach to selling works for me! It's hard for me to comment on click rate due to this factor. All my clicks were cleared on August 10th. Cheers, TTLG

Yes, that is normal. I have 200 items across plenty of categories (only 1-2 in jewellery), and still get a small number of clicks. So I wouldn't put in the effort of listing things that you otherwise wouldn't in the hope that it will increase clicks.

Why's that? No other form of verification available is better than a CC? And if it was a stolen card, it wouldn't take long for it to be cancelled. Address and phone verification are the ones that I find least comforting.

Hi, I just had a peek at one and decided not to continue as you offer only paypal as a form of payment. So whether this may affect it don't know.. Cheers

What's wrong with PayPal? It offers buyer protection (although whether this seller is eligible for that protection, I don't know).

Im not saying that there is anything wrong with paypal, but having that the only method of payment would limit some sales.
I don't have paypal and I don't wish to get it so that would cut me out. I am sure there are plenty of others that don't use paypal.
Just my thoughts and opnion no offense meant to anyone..Cheers

Thank you all for your interesting thoughts and suggestions.   I will take them on board - especially the suggestion about PayPal.  I was under the impression that PayPal was safer for the buyers due to the buyer protection/shield avenue.  Our buyers are eligible for this as we offer PayPal and also Delivery Confirmation method of postage if requested. 

With respect to being a newbie, yes, it seems to be a problem if I do not have existing feedback.   However, I was thinking that since I am a legitimate GST registered business, as well as the existence of buyer shield, and also being verified (with Australia Post verification in process), that should help? Maybe?

Hi,
You have to also remember that just because you aren't getting the clicks, doesn't mean people aren't looking.  Because every item here has a gallery picture, people can browse by just looking at headings/subheading/picture/price/postage, all without having to go into the actual listing to see what it is. To be honest, I have lost count of the amount of jewellery sellers who are no longer here.

I am a jewellery seller myself (gorgeous real Black Sea-pearls, on solid silver or gold, some with real, natural gems, all handmade or hand set).

Sales are few and far between.....

Nothing listed at the mo, so not advertising. 

But I guess that after 5 years here, people know where to find me.

People here like low postage, being able to pay with bank deposit and it may be worth considering 'Paymate' as well as having Paypal.
I personally offer Layby on my jewellery too and have gained a few clients like that, as my stuff is pretty pricey ( it has to be - it's the Real McCoy!)

Well I offer 925 sterling silver and solid gold jewellery and have found click rates reasonable but at times slower than usual. I found that if you sometimes use the front page or highlight feature when you list it gives your items more exposure and clicks. It may cost you but in the long run it always pays to advertise! I have also made a group on Face Book and promoted my jewellery VShop and this has been drawing people to Oztion also! Anyway my advice is PROMOTE PROMOTE PROMOTE and spend a little on advertising it works.

I sell handmade dichroic jewellery and a few years ago I use to do really well here, I went away for awhile and am back listing here again...clicks here on Oztion seem much slower then they use to be. Hopefully things will pick up leading up to Christmas.

Just dropping in to say hello.
I joined Oztion late last year and I am hoping that some of the experienced oztion sellers could give me some advice on my store.

Do you need to step up to premium store to get more interest in your store.

Hi  shazzame,  Welcome to Oztion.  With regards to a premium store, I don't think it will help sales at all, I actually think that it is a waste of money, but that is my opinion, I'm sure others will agree and disagree.  Try it out and see, you can always cancel it.

Seems like the original OP doen't have any listings here now.
Shame - another one come and gone.

It really does take PATIENCE to get started here, but now we have had an overhaul, hopefully sales will pick up!

Welcome, Shazzme.   I have just a normal shoppe - with not that much in it! - but I like it.

Thank-ee for saying my shoppe is nice. I paid someone else to do an exclusive design for me, so that's why I still have it!

It ain't got much in, but I big-note it to myself like this.....  Have you ever been in a Chanel store? The Designer Boutiques have no stock in them either! So I am a Designer Boutique. ROFL!
