Sellers Please tick the Brand New Tag- if item is new !
Hi.
I just did a search for a specific item - which I cannot afford brand new - so clicked the "used" for my search
Up comes HEAPS of brand new items !!!!

why ?????

The seller/s  have not ticked the brand new box when listing and this means, the brand new price tag isn't on their listing/s

So- please-- sellers - check the tag is there after you have listed - if the item is brand new
Otherwise- you may miss out on buyers who are after new items and those after used, will find the new price out of their budget - so, that means ---no sales

One seller- had 29 items- all brand new- all no tags
I have sent messages to 3 sellers but there was too many to do ( running out of time)

so- I thought this is the quickest option
suggestions :-)

Please - check your new items have the price tag and your used items do not have the tag
this way - a buyer - wanting a specific item with a certain budget- will find ( hopefully) exactly what they are after

Have a great weekend everyone
cheers

If price was the reason you searched used, why didn't you just sort all the items by price and then look at what was in your price range?

Hobals makes a good point...if I am buying for myself I sometimes don't mind if an item is preloved

But if I was buying a gift for somebody...then I want it to be Brand New.  If it's not ticked....then I'm not going to see it

Depending on what I'm after, I sometimes search for new items too & yes, it is frustrating to see used in new and new in used.  What gets me is that near new shouldn't be marked as new. JMO though.

shrugs. Peeves me more finding items in a category that have no business being in that category.

Personally I prefer to sort by price because some new items are cheaper than the prices being asked for secondhand anyway but I wish sellers would categorise their items, it's amazing how many clothes are in the 'uncategorised' section and those sellers are losing sales IMO.

Hi
If I'm buying as a gift - for someone- then I want to buy the item brand new
and would not wade through the used items - at all
Therefore --- Sellers who don't tick the box , when listing  - IMO - would end up missing out on a sale !
( if I was buying a gift - I would not search every listing - only those in the brand new section )

The item I wanted  ( for myself )  costs approx $800- $1,000 brand new-
( which- at the moment- is out of my price range ) and I was hoping to find a bargain or used one

It also has "covers-  cases- apps - chargers - protectors - stickers-
just to name a few of the items that have "that" name in the title

when I typed in the search and was specific - ( went to the exact category - not stickers or apps )
then clicked the used section- more than half were new !

Of the messages I sent- I got a thank you from all of the sellers- who were unaware of their mistake

I know that I have made HEAPS of listing errors and have been very grateful for buyers who have told me-
If members hadn't taken the time to let me know- I probably would not have sold my item -
which was listed with a typo - So- I make mistakes- as we all do :-)

The new tag is a tool available to sellers and buyers - to help us, at a glance, see if an item is new or used  -

Cheers :-)

I always have a bit of a problem with "new".
Does it mean unopened, unused, or with tags? Can I describe a 20 year old item as new if it is unopened, unused, or still has tags on it???
If the packet on an item has come open, but the contents are unused, is the item still new?
I've got a lot of things that I don't use the new tag on, because even though still sealed, I know that they came out of the factory years ago, or because they are not sealed, even though I know they are factory fresh, complete and unused.

To me, a new item is one that has never been used in any way so is still in pristine condition.

Something may still have a price tag on it but if it's been sitting on a shelf for 20 years, or even in a Crystal Cabinet for 6 months, it's no longer new.

Same with clothes. If it still has the tag on it but has been hanging in the wardrobe for a year, or is wrinkled then it would be 'never been worn' but no longer 'new' .

But that's just me.

Its so easy to forget i myself have done it.  Maybe the button should be in red?

I also have a few with tag pulls on it but paper tag has come off what would i put that under new with tags or new without?
