Sellers - do you have Credit card verified requirements ?

Hi all -  If a seller requires credit card verification but allows other forms of payment, why is it a buyer cannot proceed with a purchase using another form of payment ?

Geez that sounds like a tongue-twister...

This just happened to me - had to send a message to the seller asking they add me to their favourites so I can proceed    ( using bank transfer )

Does this normally happen if a seller has this stipulation in place ?

Sounds like the seller has too many buyer blocks in place.

I thought credit card verification was only so you could join as a seller or buyer.
Maybe that has changed.

Sellers can set there buying requirements to have credit card verified buyers or any of the other options in verification.
Not sure how this would help a seller as it just makes it difficult for everyone!

Too true kidsstuff - there's no problem for the buyer if they are verified & wish to use their card....but for a simple bank transfer we are impeded & it's a hassle...I wonder if other sellers are running the risk of losing sales because of this....

The fact that a seller insists on credit card verification has nothing to do with the payment method you use to pay.  They simply have decided that credit card verification is an indication that you are a serious buyer and not likely to buy and not bother to go through with the sale.  It doesn't mean they want you to pay that way.  Adding you to their favourites allows you to buy without having to have the verfication.

I don't think I've ever bothered to look at if my buyers are verified in any way and have no verification requirements set up ,  that Seller is setting themselves up for possible sales losses by putting their preferences so high .

Not sure why they'd be that paranoid if they accept Bank Transfers anyway   Frankly I'd take my money elswhere .

The only thing I look for with a buyer is their feedback.  Good feedback = 99.9% of the times a no hassle transaction.

Boo - I realise that, however when I click on the Confirm page, I am unable to complete the transaction because "You do not meet minimum buyer requirement. Seller requires buyer to be credit card verified." Therefore I cannot proceed unless I then send a message to the seller asking to be placed in the favourites list...ie hassle

It doesn't mean they want you to pay that way.  Adding you to their favourites allows you to buy without having to have the verfication.
I understand my choices to pay, however as said, I cannot complete the transaction because of the above...unless I spend time contacting them first.

If I set limits on who can buy I'd lose half my customers.  Half of them are newbies!

How many buyers would be credit card verified?  Probably very few, and only because they're also sellers who've chosen to pay their fees that way.

By elsewhere I meant here  'should' have said another seller

I always try here first , it works even for the most unusual of items as I recently found out

Understood, Issabella   But unfortunately this seller is the only seller of this particular item.....( here )

( looks like I'll need to buy this item using my other ID so the seller remains anonymous   ) EDIT - damn that means another message....

Well I never knew all that. I’ve been selling for four years and I remember setting my buyer requirements at the lowest level but I thought that was just common sense.

I suppose some sellers might specialise in markets where there is more “roguery” but I’d find it difficult to justify applying blanket restrictions on all buyers.

The point about newbies above is very well made. I’ve had really good sales since about the middle of January and nearly all of the buyers have been new members. quicksales are doing something right (or I am) and we need to be taking advantage of it, not posing obstacles for buyers.

I suppose it’s the old story: the sellers who are reading this thread are already doing the right thing; and the sellers who ought to be reading this thread probably don’t bother and are moaning elsewhere.

Best wishes to all.
