Question about Education Tax Refund

Does anyone know once you lodge your education tax refund over the phone
how long it takes for the payment to arrive?
Mine will be by bank deposit.
I've searched the tax site but cant find how long it takes.
I lodged mine on July 1st.

Have loads of fun everyone, I'm off for 4 days holiday Thursday..
Yahooooo, 4 days of fishing instead of milking cows..aaaahhhh

Hi Deb,

I read somewhere (either on the leaflet they sent out, on the application form & instructions, or the website)  that it should take 2 weeks if lodged by phone, with direct deposit details -cheques take them longer to process - (I can't remember how much longer though).      If lodged by mail, it takes 6 weeks.

Hope that's a help, have a great holiday!

Thank you Deb for asking this question because I had just come to ask the same thing. I also lodged mine on the 1st July but have not been able to find out anywhere on the site how long it would take for the refund.

I am still getting over the fact that when I rang I didn't have to be put on hold  - it was so quick!

Aaaah I wondered that.
Thank you so much for your replies.
Up to 2 weeks seems to be the norm for things done by direct deposit.
I actually thought they wouldve asked to see the rcpts as proof of purchase for what I claimed for. I have all of them of course, made a point of that.

Anyways of to town shortly to do last minute shopping beofre we go away tmw.
Have cooking to do this arvy (Honey Roll Cakes etc), is also dads 70th bday visit.
Cant wait gonna be loads of fun. Hes a cheeky fellow, so i got him cheeky presents...hahahaha

See Yas

You were lucky SSS, when i said my details the address didnt match with there records, so I got put thru to a "real" person.  It turned out the address they had on file for me was from 9 years ago when I last lodged a tax return (dont need to now cause I dont earn enough to pay tax). So we fixed that & the lady
put me straight thru to the ed refund lodgement thingy & it just flowed on from there, that part was very fast. I made a point of writing down the lodgement rcpt number. Thats important in case you need to ring up about it. The lady actually checked I worked out my figures right.
This might help others too:
She said the figure you put on in question 10 L must be the 50% figure of expenses
NOT the whole amount. Apparently several have put whole figures & the system wont allow them to lodge & they have to talk to tax dept & sort it out. I had it right first time thankfully & told her how i worked it out.

Does anyone know the date it has to be lodged by? Also what happens if youve lost any receipts? if you can prove it by credit card or bank statements does that count?
