Posting jewellery
To all the sellers out there - how do you post jewellery cheaply and safely?

I'd appreciate any advice

Thanks

In re-cycled padded bags. Then the Buyer just pays for the postage, not the bag.

For me - it depends on the individual item, its materials, its value, weight and where it is coming from - me - or after being hand made elsewhere.

Some because of the precious metals and gemstones or if I use gift boxes and Insured International Mail - so the packaging for those is sometimes different.

Domestically I would use padded bags and registered post.

Really depends on the item , if it will be safe in a padded bag I use those . If it needs extra protection - box and padded bag.

There's no real cheap way I think , I've received a chain  in a bit of bubble wrap and an envelope which should have been ok to be sent like that but because letter mail passes through a slot type sorter it must have got caught on the corner of the envelope and it was torn . The item was ok but a padded bag would have been a better option.

Same when people send earrings , the studs can be bent easily so needs protective packaging.

Most of my jewellery can be posted in padded bags, for studs I loosen the back and tape them flat  onto cardboard so they will not be bent. If they are too big for this then a box is required so as not to damage them.  Unique hand made Bracelets and necklaces I like to send in a gift box for safety so everything arrives in good order but this also depends on the value of the items. Padded bags are a must in my business. LOL.

It depends on the thickness and the value.
if thin costume jewelry or sterling silver then in a padded envelope.
if studs in a box so the stems don't bend then in a padded envelope. small parcel post.
if solid gold..in a box, padded envelope registered post only.

As mentioned above it really depends on the jewellery. Costume jewellery or cheap silver jewellery is fine in a padded bag. But if I purchased gold jewellery from you and it was just in a padded bag.. you wouldn't be getting my business again.

lol, no, it's not gold jewellery. Of course, I would box any jewellery of significant value.

I only have a few pieces of inexpensive costume jewellery.

Thank you everyone.
