Packaging Jewellery Items
I have just started making my own rings, etc and was just wondering what is the best way to package these ready for postage. And also what is the best way of taking a photo of them.

Thanks for all your help in advance with this

if the items are flattish they could go in a padded envelope as letter post. cost of envelope stamp and small handling charges. if bulky then small parcel post.up to you whether you want to put them in a box or just wrap in bubble wrap for extra protection, that is what I do. some items could be sandwiched between two pieces of cardboard to prevent the letter sorting machines from breaking the item. I hope that helps.

Hi Tanja...I just listed some an hour ago...and they are pretty bulky

What I do is use a padded envelope, jewellers foam, some cardboard (old Christmas cards, or postcards work a treat) and oodles of Bubblewrap.

You use the jewellers foam wrap...then the bubblewrap..then the cardboard

Or you can buy small ring boxes and then there is no need to get all fiddly like me

I actually send mine in cardboard ring boxes to keep them safe, all other items I just send as letter post in a padded bag.

I was also going to go the ring boxes ...but I offer free postage on all my rings and most of my jewellery.  So I was just trying to keep the costs down for my buyers

If you are going past a building site or two the inner insulation of aircon ducts is the best packaging as it is soft , easy to rip and is clean . The small electrical light boxes are perfect for rings ,small items and the like .
I am a chippy so visit many work sites and in 1 scavenge I have a years supply of packing hehehehe . Just a thought to help save money but offer great protection .
As for photos , I have many to look at in my jewelery section . I have played around with different backings and the Jarrah on red velvet comes up a treat . A good camera is very important . You can tell which ones are from my new camera and the ones from my old camera .

I've tried the red and it didn't work for me Joseph.  For me personally, I find a lighter background is better.  But I agree with you, a good camera is a must!
