Over 1000 clicks
I have been watching the number of clicks on a certain item which I have listed for $3 with $2 postage. It was listed in the middle of September, and has now reached over 1000 clicks. It was mentiond in another thread that the probable reason for the high number of clicks is because it has the word 'notebook' in its title. But from the accompanying photo, it quite obviously really is a notebook - the sort you write things in - and NOT a small computer. But this must be the reason for the high number of clicks - it can't be the price or postage cost. But it still intrigues me.

I'm aiming for 2000 clicks now....

My highest number of clicks is 137.  I cleared all my clicks at the end of October and ever since that time this particular listing has always had the most clicks.  The next closest only has 71.  I've always wondered why this particular fabric has had more clicks but I won't say what it is because I'll suddenly have a lot more clicks on it.

I have a multiple quantity item on it's 3rd round (two have sold) which is currently over 140 clicks, before the last sale it was over 100 and before the first sale it was over 300, and that's just since Jan 1 when I cleared everything for the new year.

I have only about a dozen items from nearly 1000 that have not had clicks and 99% of those have multiples, 50% have double figures.  Things certainly are getting busier.

i have double numbers on some items but had 300 on one. i don't believe it, could it be a glitch?

QB - I'm sure it's not a glitch as I have been watching it for quite a while. I have another item with over 300 clicks and 5 more over 200, all since mid September.  I just wish someone would buy them.

ok then, thats amazing, so many clicks. thanks for your reply and good luck. all you want now is a bidding war, lol

In three and a half years of selling here, I think there have been less than five items that have had more than one bid. Whiich is why all my items are now Buy It Now.

i have never had a bidding war, but i still dream about it, lol.  almost all my items are bid now too.

I've had bidding wars on here on a good few of my items.  Mainly the first offered of a species of plant that I'm selling.
They are fun to watch but omg a couple of them have left me speechless.

Then from a buyers point of view.  I've been in bidding wars.  Won a few but seem to loose more as I forget about the auction ending and generally get outbid.

I'm guessing that people are coming to the item via Google Shopping, as it has a Buy Now price, and has the word 'notebook' in the title. But even so, you would think that seeing a price of $3 against the item before even following the link would make those people stop and think? Oh well....

Magnolia...that's probably why...hahahah...they might be thinking to get a new laptop for $3.... yippeeee !!!

Regardless - it's still advertising for you, because I wonder how many of those 1000 + 'clickers' comes along to look at your other items ... it's a win -win situation !!

It's not through Google shopping as it's pretty specific with it's search engine and 'notebook' will show laptops and accessories even when selecting the lowest price range.

Maybe we do have a large amount of lookers passing by

I think you might be right issabella, as I just tested it myself using the word 'notebook' and even when the results are ranked in order from lowest to highest, it's not there. Here was me thinking I knew the reason for the high click number, and bang goes that theory.

I've got one about the 160ish mark in looks. Have googled for any of my photo's but nothing ever shows anymore when they used to once upon a time back when there were buyers...distant memory, yep tad quiet. :)

Maybe we do have that many lookers ? Which is good

I have books that I think are fairly attractive with no clicks in several months. I have others that are run of the mill with clicks in the tens.

If the clickers (and watchers) were fair dinkum, I would expect to not have the item for sale anymore. The more clicks without a sale, the more you need to look at why nobody has committed to purchase the item.

I agree Pete and that's the reason I commented on it in another thread. But I cannot believe it's the cost that is preventing its sale. Then again, what else would?

Here's one for you all.

I got asked about combined postage for a book, over there. 4 minutes later somebody else bought the trigger book. Why? It's been listed there for 6 weeks. Did the questioner put it on watch? I don't know. When I got home it had sold.

How can anybody work out what is in a buyer's mind? Not me, and I buy on the odd occassion.

And, of course, the standard disclaimer that they could have bought it, and the other books they wanted to combine, here, for less, in the 8 months I had them listed here.

Now over 1100 clicks. That's an extra 100 clicks in 10 days, or 10 a day. Why??????

Now reached 1201 clicks... That's an extra 100 clicks in just 8 days this time.

I just googled notebook 105 and notebook 155 (which are the measurements of the notebook in your listing) and heaps of toshiba entries came up. They must have models with those numbers or something.
Your actually listing for the paper notebook was on page 2.
Could that be why there are so many hits?

echo - it has been suggested before that the huge number of clicks must be related to the word 'notebook' in the title, but I still can't understand if once people see the photo and it is so obviously not a computer, that it still gets people looking. Oh well... I just wish someone would buy the darn thing.

once people see the photo and it is so obviously not a computer
but the photo is not showing until you click on the link in google. Well, on my google anyway :)

My other theory is that a school somewhere gave their art students a project to design a cover
for a spiral bound notebook and hundreds of students went googling for ideas

Thanks, magnolia, I see what you mean now by photo in the entries.
I was just using normal google search for notebook 105 and 155.
Certainly makes a difference.

I don't think it's the word 'notebook' in itself , if you Google Marbig that is a large office and stationary supplier .
People may be looking for a notebook and the name marbig and find a link to your listing . Also would explain why it hasn't sold .

It would drive me nuts to see so many clicks all the time and I would just remove the clicks every week

On ebay. I have had a few bidding wars but not on here, but I would love to see them. I think that it would be great.

Why would this explain why it hasn't sold?

They may have been looking for the Marbig distributor/shops etc ? And once they see the listing realise it's not what they are after ?
