old video tapes etc
I have some old video tapes, cassette tapes which I would love to convert to DVD's.  I have seen one which can play LP''s and cassettes but nothing for video tapes as well. I no longer have the video recorder. Daylily

l have bought myself a video to DVD recorder/player cost a lil but l can now put all our videos onto dvd its so much better!!!! Best bet would be to find a friend with one and would do it for you!
Online they charge up to $30 or more each to do UGH.  Also you can buy this thing that puts it on your PC and then you could convert to dvd that way.  Its a USB.2.0 video grabber.  But l love my Sanyo DVD Video player/recorder.  Have my babys and wedding and special things all on dvd now.

Good luck!

The multiplayer sound like what I need. Have been scrolling about but can't find anything. My computer does not even have a cd write, but only he had none in at the time. I have a basic DVD player with the TV. It can't bemore than replacing all the old TV shows to buy! Ann

Honestly... it's cheap as chips to set up a VHS to DVD conversion system.  Just be mindful that under Australian copyright law... you are permitted to convert the tapes to DVD... but once you do, you are NOT permitted to sell, gift or otherwise dispose of the tape and/or the DVD - either individually or together.  The only legal way to get rid of them is to have them destroyed.  Of course, this doesn't apply if the tapes are your own original work.

If you are still interested... start by looking here for a VHS player. When I got mine, there were none listed... so I just went to the local op shop and chose one from the 20 or so units they were selling for between $3 and $5ea (mine cost $4 with a remote)

Next... look here for a USB video grabber. When I got mine, there were none listed... so I ended up sourcing one from another site (ex Hong Kong) for $1.52 (free postage). This included the grabber software, an installation disc and a very detailed instruction manual

There are several now!! Some give a few days latitude with time to think, and till payday. I have no intention of even giving away any discs and the family are not interested. I know two are Gilbert and Sullivan from when we got more than footy and sport on all 4 channels. I must seee if I can find a USB grabber with instructions. Many thanks, Ann

Decided just to go for one. I think, duh, that what I just bought is the capture :-))) I have also neeeded a set top box. I have an old small screen TV in the bedroom so maybe I'll get another cheap video recorder and a second set top box for that. I'm just a not so old, non electronic savvvy person. I can't even get a remote tuned in.Cheers, Ann
