Sorry, don't know how to help.  I've looked through the EL forum and can't find anything remotely similar.  Perhaps uninstall the program, restart your computer, then follow this instruction page again?

Just a thought

Thanks for that, yes it comes up as soon as the login screen appears and when I try to login. I am defiantly connected. :) It disappears if I hit the cancel button on the login. I have over 700 products to list but I cannot get on ... Frustrating.

Sorry, I just noticed EL DOES have "Status Disconnected" on the bottom, how do I connect it?

I just logged in, the status still shows as disconnected!

Hey, at least you can login

Are you allowing the update pop-up to finish?

But to me it seems something is missing from the installation as a common cause for that error is a missing variable.

A pain but perhaps the easiest way to fix it is to remove all traces of EL , restart and download it again

Hi Try turning the computer off - NOT restart.
Wait a minute or two and start the computer again.
See if that helps.
Sometimes there is a glitch between the computer/program  and the net.
Hope this helps

I had this issue back in 2007! The advice was to make sure I was using the latest version and to make sure I was using the default installation path.

Hi everyone, I just went to log onto EL, I have had no problems with it previously, and required update came up, so I waited, then had the same message  "Object reference not set to an instance of an object"   I cannot log onto it at all now. Can anyone help me please.  Have read through the forums - don't even know what a MS-SQL update is, let alone install it or what to do with it!
Does this mean I have to uninstall EL and re-install it - I hope not
Heeeellpp!!!!
Any help would be appreciated......

Express Lister Issues

There have been some reports related to the Express Lister version released on Tuesday 18th October. It appears that it may not have worked properly on 64bit Windows operating systems.

A new version was released at 5.30pm today the 20/10/2011 that addresses these issues.

To install the new version, you must uninstall the old version first.

I just installed the latest version of EL and have this same problem.

Anyone found a solution. I am using Windows 7 and installed the 64bit EL.

I don't know how to check if I have the update that is supposed to fix it, can anyone tell me how to check for that or a link to download it?

G'day Norman-A,
Despite the mass quantity of Object reference not set to an instance of an object messages, I managed to get past that to find a message saying:

"An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format (exception from HRESULT:0x8007000B)"

Yes, I am running 64 bit
Yes, I did download the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) that EL requested.

Any suggestions on how to make EL work?

Thanks.

This is bloody frustrating, I also have new computer Windows 7 home premium 64 bit and am getting all the  same messages.

" Object reference not set to an instance of an object"
"An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format (exception from HRESULT:0x8007000B)"

I have also installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package ( x86 )

I deleted and re installed program 3 times and still getting same messages.

What a waste of bloody time, this as about as handy as a one legged man in an a*se kicking contest,  if I can't get it to run then back to Fleabay.

Anyone got a fix yet ?????????

Good Afternoon sawchain

Take a look at the this thread Getting your EL to work. from ejholden it explains how he got express lister to work on a 64 bit windows 7.

If ej can get it to work I think you will find you can too
Good luck with it

What a load of rubbish, how do you people expect seller from ebay to migrate their stuff to your site if you can't even provide proper software!

Have tried all suggestions as per forum several times and cannot get EL to work,I will keep going with ebay and ebid until I see from these forums that EL is working and will then duplicate across to quicksales,
sooner or later someone at quicksales will ralise that EL is just not working

 Dear Ozfarmer,

Can you please install the SQL Server Compact 3.5 SP2 from the link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=5783

As with some others, your computer may be detecting a discrepancy between the system provider and the database file used by EL. Reinstallation may also assist with your problem.
