New Camera Help Please.
Hi,   I need to get a new digital camera.  The one I have does not take clear enough photos of jewellery, beads or really anything.  I don't want a very expensive camera but something I can just  look and click.  I have tons of listing to do and need to get one soon.
Any suggestions PLEASE. =  Brand = megapixels

Hi blackduck, I use a Canon powershot A550 & that is easy to use & takes good photos. Digital camera prices are lower than ever at the moment & most are good for what you need. Mine is a 7.1 megapixel but a higher number would probably be better if you can get one. Maybe a 10mp.

I purchased a canon powershot SX120 whilst visiting New Zealand it was very cheap because of the exchange rate and is an awesome camera. 10mp and crystal clear even on close ups.

you can get them for under $100. now. good size megs and zoom.
the bigger the megs is really only useful for printing out A4 size prints and bigger. average megs now is about 5megs.
the zoom might be what you need. for jewelry pic 3zoom should be fine any thing over is a bonus for other uses. when taking pics of jewelry best to get an empty milk bottle... 2 or 3 lt. cut off the base and off near top of handle.
place a piece of coloured paper/material in the base, place jewelry on it. place camera at top of bottle hole. look into viewer... zoom in if needed. try with and without flash to see which is the best shot for your item.

Thank you for your replies.  Looks like canon might be the way to go.  Rich,  would never thought of using a milk bottle to take photos.
I am a real novice and take the worst photos so hope new camera might help a bit.
Thank you.

You can get a 10mp camera now for less than $100. You also need to buy a tripod if you want clear pics of jewellery etc...
