I am no expect on this but if it is an apple iphone then i think you have to first plug the ipod nano onto your laptop/computer and have all your songs listed in your itunes account,
then somehow you have to plug your phone in and transfer the songs across.
I have and ipod touch and i plug it in and my itunes box pops up with all the list of my songs,
sorry not much help really but hopefully someone else will come along that can guide you.

I think its through the computer but I also think you can share between devices with some iphones. The newest one can.

If all else fails....google it! I did a quick search and there is plenty there about how to do it.
Google is my best friend lol

the above is correct.
on your pc you should have iTunes.
the songs on your iPod would of come from there.
connect your iPhone to your pc and upload songs from iTunes to iPhone.
I don't have an iPhone to check but I do have an iPod.
when my Sons gets out of bed , he has an iPhone I will ask him.

Be careful when plugging in your iphone to the computer, read any pop-ups that may come up. I plugged my mums iphone into my computer to put a cd on it and itunes updated her phone to resemble my ipod. She lost all her contacts, photos and anything else she had saved on there.  Oops.
