Listings via EL are different/wrong
I have just noticed that some of my listings are showing with HTML

Also if I have added extra photos via photobucket, these are not visible

Yet if I go back to EL & preview that listing - all is fine

This is one example: Item number: 12907355

This looks really cruddy........ so is my only option to go through every listing & edit???

Plus I did edit 2 listings & editting via a live listing is looking cruddier. Fonts are different to EL, everything looks awful.

The HTML is showing because the opening bracket, <, on the tags is missing.  This could also be why the pics aren't displaying, although I notice you have used target tags instead of img tags.  I always use the image tool in the description builder in EL and never have a problem.

Hi boo, I only time I change to HTML in EL is to add the clickable thumbnails.

I don't know how to use HTML........

I don't know what a target tag is????

When I try to edit on quicksales things just get worse

Okay, I have managed to edit the PB photos

Why do the listigs look fine in EL and in EL preview yet now that I check on quicksales they look terrible.

Eg Huge gaps or no paragraphs. This is not how I set them out - I spend a lot of time trying to make listings easy to read.

I don't usually check once uploaded and I am really disappointed with how some listings look

PS I have had 5 attempts at editing the Yorker tin. The spacing is still too big ~ I give up

 I sold something the other day and that is when I noticed that the entire body of the ad was in html :(
(I am surprised it sold coz I couldnt work it out!!)
I checked about 10 of my live ads and they were all fine. then I forgot about it lol.
I do my ads through EL too

 I do not use EL but I often have problems with the line spacing in the editor, its a real pain.

Ellen - if you have problems with the line spacings, I bet it is because you copy and paste direct from Word. If you do use Word to write your descriptions, copy and paste it into Notepad first - which strips out all the extra formatting garbage that Word adds - and then recopy and paste ito the description box. THEN add your formatting.

I have seen the extra coding that Word puts in when I have copied and pasted it into my HTML editor (Dreamweaver) which is the only place you can see 'behind the scenes' with what Word adds.

Well what a frustrating few hours that was!

I can't believe how bad some of my listings were. I certainly wouldn't have bought any of those items.

Even though I have edited & re-edited some listings are still very gappy & not as neat as I would like BUT at least they make sense and all the photobucket thumbnails are now correct.

I don't use Word, I have used notepad and still don't know how an EL preview via Internet Explorer can look so good & then be so horrible when uploaded here.

DID I SAY THAT everything looks normal in a preview whilst still in EL.

Hey junkyardmomma,

I too have noticed the same on mine..... but I have it figured that the ones showing the gobble-dee gook html are ones that I have loaded from EL, but then gone into QS to alter something.
if I uplaod from EL and leave them alone they are fine, if I choose to edit, it sends them bonkers!!!

SO FRUSTRATING! I have spent better part of today trying to fix them :o(

Mrs Moose, you are right.

I just went to edit a listing (just a price change) and now the listing has different spacings etc.

Last week I edited the majority of my listings - just price reductions and all those that I edited were the listings that went haywire.

I use Express Lister and usually only edit online for price reductions

Lets hope admin read this and fix it before ALL the ones need adjusting for the postage changes in April.

I was going to withdraw all my listings by 15th April as we are going away for 3mths. but the postage increase might have made that date sooner as I am not going to alter everything just for a few days
