Ive had to close up
Ive been with Quicksales/Oztion since the beginning, but lately Ive noticed sales are dimishing fast, watches yes, but sales, no - so I was between a rock and a hardplace, do I leave things online and hope they will improve, or just delete the lot, - which I have just done.
I thought things would improve with the change of name, but all it seems to have done is attract sellers with high prices, and the genuine small seller who just wanted to get rid of a few things, seems to be gone.
The thing which really made up my mind is/was, the same things here for high $'s cost less on Ebay - very sad.
I wont leave all together and will keep checking back to hopefully see a possitive change in both items for sale and in the forums.
Cheers all

I was just thinking the same thing Maggie, what is the point of making beautiful items, 100's of looker's and no sales, I might as well pull everything apart and just sell the beads.
Cannot believe how fast this site has gone downhill and Admin does nothing, in the end they will have NO good seller's who are prepared to put in the yards and year's.
Good luck for any future endeavour's.

Thanks guys, I didnt just do it on the spur of the moment, its been on my mind for quite awhile - I tried to keep my items reasonably priced etc: but as I said, alot of watchers, no sales, yet I still had to pay for using my V shop - so commonsense had to prevail.
Know what you mean

I too have heaps of beads here, even some swarovski ones which I dont suppose Ill ever use now, - made some ear rings, necklaces etc, swarovski and sterling silver wires etc - nothing!!!!!, so they are in the cupboards somewhere.
Its rather sad, but I have to face reality and do whats best - hope you have more luck than I - good luck to you both :-)

Hello
Maggie10_1....
Sales seem to be slow everywhere ....on Ebay as well as retail stores. My PO even said things are a lot slower for them.
Our 2 daughters work in the fashion and jewellery stores and have noticed a big drop in sales since Christmas. They are having sales every week just to try and keep things selling. My husand notices it in his work place as well. Seems to be the economy is slow.
I think people are just being more careful with their money lately with rising cost of living expenses. You just don't know when the next interest rate will hit, or fuel or food goes up. Hopefully, something will happen to change it all.
All the best

Sales are slow everywhere for sure. At least it is free to list here & the fvf very reasonable. I sell in ebay and have done for 6 years. Sold here for 2 years until about 2 years ago..and went back to EB fulltime. But now...it's a terrible mess there. May as well languish here with stock than over there where they continually take fees and figure out ways to diminish credibility and esteem of aussie sellers...sorry you are not selling though maggie all the same. But it is also slow in retail b and m stores as another lady/gent said in this thread. When one has had enough though..that's it isnt it?
People just dont have the money lately I think...jilly

Sorry to see you go Maggie. I have only just put my items back and yes as others have said, sales in everything everywhere is slow. I do not want really to get into the politics, but I do think that we all need an inspired confidence boost from somewhere- now even China is not looking as good as it did. I personally think that if a lot of these CEO's of the big companies could put some of their huge salaries and bonuses back into employing more Australians in their companies may be a start That is just my opinion anyway. Will get off my soap box now.

I can only wish we had some $ to spend here onsite - just had car rego inspection yesty with bad case of nerves IYKWIM - could only hope car passed ok (it did & now reg'd for another yr). The B&M stores are doing it tough as well - prime example was a store in town last wkend that gave us 50% off retail price & they weren't having a sale either - bill was over $130 to begin with & is clearly stated on the invoice with showing the end charged price. Since the car passed rego - we were able to put 4 new tyres on the car afterwards...even the tyre company did a 10% discount & nor were they having a sale either...in short everyone is biting the bullet so to speak. Hang around, watch, wait, be patient - but don't give up all together, yeah pull your items for a bit from having a store but list a few as an ordinary member seller - good luck. :)

hi m-10 i to have withdrawn my stock from all my sites [i sell on 3] sales very slow on all of them. not i think the fault of the site more the downturn in the economy world wide & higher cost of living in australia. at the moment playing the gray nomad in f-n-q port douglas i find a lot of empty shops and traders having a hard time the stuff i sell on line sells better at local markets with out the high postal costs. all the way up the queensland coast the lack of tourists & cyclone yasi has had a deverstating effect.. all one can do is keep trying and hope for the best. like good wine the economy will get better with age so may sales on line. a thought for all sellers, THE ART OF SELLING IS IN THE BUYING ?

Sorry you are leaving Maggie, maybe things will pick up, but I doubt it.
On expensive items like wedding dresses and cameras, shops are looking forward to charging a fee, $300 for a wedding dress fitting, as they are finding buyers take hours of their time then buy on line. Same with cameras, they get all the info and demonstration on a fancy camera, then buy on line, as its cheaper. Marian

You guys are really great and thank you all for your comments, yes I know money is tight everywhere, some places more than others, good example is: Tasmania has just introduced a 12.something% hike in our power bills, ours were usually around $300 which was ok - got one the other day, it is $711.90!!!!! for the 1/4, - I even rang them to check, and yep that is the correct amount, so bear in mind there are just 2 of us living here, how on earth does the average family cope - the fellow over the road is 92, lives alone and his bill is $730, cant understand it, especially as Tasmania is a hydro state and sells power to the mainland when they want it.
But thats neither here nor there, was just trying to say Im well aware of the financial situation, but even so, this was just one little way I can pull in my belt and save my pennies, so to speak.
Im going to list a mobile phone in a tic, and see how that goes - if it sells, it sells, if it doesnt, Ill just keep it till things pick up.
Have a great evening all

Close your store if you feel you must but still list as a common seller. No innuendo meant to us common sellers which I am one of. It only costs me a bit of time to photograph and list then it's arus. If its sitting in your cupboard as you say it may as well sit here.
Yes there are a lot of lookers and watchers at present. Me included. I would love to grab everything I have on watch but in all honesty who can afford that. I can't. When I'm asked about how my business is going my reply is We're surviving. Thats it. No grand holidays, no new vehicles.
The economy is whats stopping the watchers becoming buyers.
There was a sticker once that I saw on an overdue invoice. Thought it hilarious but oh so true.

Hi jewellery-closet,
I feel exactly the same way as you about pulling everything that I have put hours of work into, and just selling the beads. I have dropped all my jewellery down to just the cost of the beads - nothing for the work I have put into it, but still sales are so slow on the jewellery.
I'm not complaining about my other items, but just the hand made jewellery - you can buy the chinese made stuff for less than the original items hand made, so what's the point.
Please everybody don't just give up on Quicksales - just keep listing and you will find that eventually there is a buyer there for you (although it may take a year or two).

Hi June,
I have already started to pull apart over 500 items, that's not including what is still listed, closed my shop also.
After 40 odd years of making I have had it, wasting so much time and effort, I'll never do it again.
Have always loved it here and I'm pretty sad at the moment, but let's face it, no point in flogging something nobody apparently want's.
Sure there is cheap jewellery in those Asian shop's, and that's just what it is, cheap and nasty, my beads etc: are quality, many from overseas that can't be bought in Aus.
I have 1000's of them, and all that goes with creating, so it will be fun when the sorting starts

Hi everyone
I too have been here since the begining and I too have stopped selling.
I have tried selling lots of different things over the past 5 1/2 yrs and as you can see by my feedback have not been very succesful since oztion was sold the 1st time.
(even the forums are crap now).
Atleast with the original owners they tried to advertise, this current lot haven't bothered.
I only buy occasionally now and if those sellers move I will follow them.
So all I can say is best of luck to those of you who sell.

hi everyone,
yes mine has stopped to a walk. I used to make around $80 a week, now I'm down to $15 a week. I've thought about leaving, but then you do have to ask yourself where else can I sell any better...not likely anywhere even ebay has fell apart with sales thats why their offering 30 free listings a month. the retailers are struggling too, its a chronic problem
in regard to sellers having prices high, I would say this is due to the drop in sales. so sellers need to compensate for the loss of revenue, make the same amount of money by selling less

I agree that things are slow, but I have also looked at a lot of sellers on QS and a lot of those complaining are complaining of not having any sales, but do not actually buy here themselves, I am not saying everyone doesn't, but some sellers haven't bought anything here for over 12 months, if every seller bought one thing it would make a big difference. I sell hardly anything here but am always buying, because I believe if you want something back, at first you must give. This is a great place for bargains and cheaper postage prices as sellers here try very hard to post items the cheapest way possible, and yes we all know postage is the killer, but if people really want something they will willingly pay the postage rate, it is still cheaper than combining time & petrol

It's very sad to see someone who has been with Oztion/Q'Sales from the beginning giving up and of course for those of you who put many hours into making items that you can't sell that must be disheartening for sure.
I think for me in regards to buying, postage prices are killing so many what once would have been bargains. And this isn't the fault of the seller, and I'm hoping Australia Post suffer for their greed.
I went shopping with my dd yesterday, and I so dislike going to the shops but there are so many sales and bargains, hard for online sellers to compete with that.
I still love browsing and finding 'just the thing I was looking for !' and then having it sitting in the cupboards unused for months lol.

nonswimmingturtle,
you are right in what you state, I have a buying ID with over 2000 hit's, so many of us do buy as well as sell, just because I am leaving won't stop me from still buying from seller's here, besides I will list all my beads eventually.
As for postage cost's, I have many great books not on Quicksales, but am loath to ask the postage cost for sending one, in most case's it is more than the asking price of book, so yes! Australia Post is greedy and make's it difficult to be fair with customer's.
I joined Oztion 3 mths after it opened, sold under another two ID's and did very well, gosh I loved it back then, the Forums were fun, sometimes VERY entertaining, moderator killed that, and you could always count on being part of a 'family' ... sigh!
I am so angry with Quicksales at the moment for not giving this great site an all out war against the Bay, people are sick of there shenanigans and cost's, this site has everything to offer and more but nobody after 6 yrs. still know about it, my own Daughter who has over 4000 friends on Facebook has several times put in pic's and right-ups to get traffic our way, not just for me, but for everyone, she was trying to let everyone know there is a better alternative to the Bay.
It was breaking my heart last night pulling my creations apart, so what I have decided is list everything I can, have a sale, then go, this way I am giving buyer's the opportunity to buy what's left .... madly trying to sort now.
Enough LOL, hope things improve for all of you in the future....

This is a sad thread. Maggi i wish you all the best for the future.
I do however wonder is it a good idea to delete just before Christmas?
In another thread variety was mentioned. Buyers cant buy if items arent listed!
Also I recently put up a wanted for a higher priced item- Had a response to the item but $70-100 dearer than i could buy elsewhere with postage! That is a
huge
difference in price!!
On a plus note a very recent wanted ad needing a special craft item has been found and im so happy with that.
I think buyers are here but it depends on what you sell. As a buyer i always try here first always.
Sellers are you also checking the' Wanted' ads as well?
Anyway maggie as mentioned in my opening i wish you all the best :-)

I buy a lot of my books online now, 3 bookshops have closed in my area so this is a good place to buy, postage on books I am willing to pay, a book in the shops now can be anywhere from $15 - $35 .A large book between 500- 1 kg can be sent for $8.50 if you avoid the satchels, I like to buy 3-4 and pay satchel postage to make it worth the cost so it is still good value. A lot of peoplewould prefer to watch a movie than read, I love books and usually have 2 or 3 on the go at l time, I always have a book in my car, one at work and one I am reading at home, My grandchildren have been avid book readers and my youngerst at 6 has just finished the 2 Harry Potter book

non swimming turtle - could u please tell me how you can send a large book between 500g to 1kg for $8.55 (I think u said). Without a satchel, and to send interstate, a parcel weighing over 500gr the basic charge is $10.55 (according to my PO charges book) then u have to add the distance charge for the applicable state. To post within your own state it is $8.35, but if it is going to woop woop, u also have to add .70 distance charge.
This is why I use satchels for my books (and encourage people to fill one) as if the book/s weigh over 500gr it is the cheaper alternative.

I just dont know - will have to keep thinking about it.

Good morning Maggie,
It's quite a dilemma we both have ourselves in, but for you, I think you should re-list and for the time being don't open a Vshop.
You have been here a long time and old habits die hard, besides there is nothing to loose, no cost's, low fee's, you know the spiel, and they now remain listed, you can spend the time watching them go round and round...lol
Maggie follow your gut feeling on this, but your items are not going to do much good stuck in a cupboard, is there anything you can seperate, or make two of to sell on Ebay, you will need to put your price's up to cover cost's, personally I would not give them the time of day, but I can understand the need.
It's obvious to me you don't really want to go, and I know exactly how your thinking at the moment, it's gut-wrenching when so much love and effort goes into creating and the feeling that nobody want's it, you start to doubt yourself and get down, but the fact is...there is nothing wrong with what you have to offer, beautiful items, and as you can now see there are a lot of us in the same boat.
So you go girl!!!! re-list, and the best of luck Maggie

Morning
jewellery-closet
, yes it is sad the way things have gone on here since and even before the merge - I just get so frustrated when I get questions about a particular item, answer them accordingly, even so far as to invite them to make me an offer - then I dont hear anything.
I have alot of things which I have previously listed, didnt sell, so are now in the cupboard (jewellery mainly), then I went to plus sizes as there are alot of lovely bigger ladies out there, thought Id priced them realistically, then was receiving questions asking ild consider $6 or thereabouts for a garment which cost me in excess of $40 and only worn a couple of times - very disheartening I tell you.
So, after alot of soul searching, I decided to pull the plug so to speak. Then went onto facebook and saw alot of the sellers here are advertising on there so I watched - turned out baby/toddler clothes were selling well, but nothing much else.
Im not sure if I will relist my things just under Maggie10_1 and not use the V shop- right now I have a room full of things and not sure what to do with them, especially when I remember how much they all cost me in the first place.
Anyway, Ill get off my soap box and cogitate a bit more :-)
In the meantime, cheer up, perhaps you should list a few things just under your name also and see what happens.
Warm regards
Maggie xx
