Hi thriftylink,

Yes, your purchased songs should automatically download to your iPod, when you plug in your ipod it should sync the songs, make sure you have the "Purchased" box ticked and go from there.

When you log in to iTunes... your login is attached to an email address... and your official Apple device/s (such as your iPod, iPhone, etc) are then linked to your account.

Anything you download under your login can ONLY be accessed by the device/s associated with your account... any such material which you have downloaded can NOT be uploaded to any device which is not registered to your iTunes account.

This requirement even applies to "FREE" iTunes content.
