Ideas for a week away.
Morning all.  Hubby and I are taking a week off in late Feb. just to get away for a while.  Trouble is we have been just about everywhere in SA (that I can think of) and are battling to think of somewhere to go.

Ideally we would like to stay in a caravan park (in a cabin - camping has no appeal for me now lol) on the coast somewhere, that has a good boat ramp.  We want to take the boat and do some fishing, but also would like to be able to do a bit of sightseeing as well as plain old relaxing.

Anyone from SA know of a place that they think is great for this sort of a holiday?

Hi there, we used to spend weekends in Port Broughton, Port Hughes, Wallaroo but it has been a long time since I lived in SA and do not remember about boat ramps but probably do as they are on the coast. Renmark was a beautiful place too but not on the coast, on Murray River. Moonta Bay is quite pretty and lots to explore there with the old mines etc.
Hope this helps you out. Have a lovely week, not like us in QLD we have so much rain it is not funny now and can't go out anywhere without getting soaked. At least it isn't cold. LOL
cheers Chrissy

Thanks for that Chrissy.  Yes I know your weather has been terrible.  We had those shocking 3 days of thunderstorms, huge hailstones, floods etc just over a week before Xmas and then it finally left us, with lots of damage tho.  Weather has been very ordinary since, even rained on Christmas Day for about 5 mins.

Not our usual summer, reasonable temps in the day but quite cool at night.  Supposed to be hitting 40 by New Years Eve and day - we'll see lol.

How about Point Turton - caravan park/cabins are on the water by the jetty and boat ramp - or Marion Bay - I prefer Turton though as the family has a shack there - haven't been over for years though :(

Thanks everyone for your ideas.  Believe it or not we have been and stayed at all the places you have mentioned.  I had hoped maybe there was a well kept secret out there (lol) of a place not often frequented that we could visit.

Still you have mentioned places I hadn't thought of re-visiting.

Try going just over the border to the Glenelg river, Pt Nelson.

Why not travel a bit further and go into Vic. You could go to Portland, Port Fairy or Warnambool. All are coastal.
