I think we need a new Forum Rule
I'm cranky , so bite me

But

If you say you no longer LIST or BUY on qs but still come into the forums ( why ?) let's have a new rule that you cannot BAG qs for issues that obviously have no effect on you

Yes ? No ?

On a serious note = it really isn't helpfull to sellers trying their hardest here.

That would not work, easy enough to create a new id to create havoc if that is what you want to waste your time doing.

Cheers

That's a great idea.
BTW, how is everyone?
I've missed you all.
Long time no see.
I haven't been selling stuff online anywhere lately.
Too busy to get the free time to list stuff.

How do you know for sure they no longer sell or buy? As Ellen mentions a new id and your set, quite a few people have more than one id on here.

Even if they dont sell their sister/brother/aunt/friend still might

Some may be having a break from buying and selling...

Everyone is entitiled to their opinion even if you dont like it. Does it get annoying the same people moaning yes but its their opinion.

If you think something is damaging to Quicksales then hit the report button.

Hey Mgn how are you?

And there are stll a lot of people with invisibe IDs (you know the ones you can't click).

I am also getting fed up with negative nellies who blame the site for everthing wrong in their world.

Hmmm in a perfect world it would be great - it does always seem to be the same ones and I always seem to bite - or maybe it's because my day hasn't been all that good (my doggy is sick)

I feel like

But maybe I should just

I Kiwi, long time since I chatted.
I've been busy with a family settlement, kids orders etc, etc...
And running my bookshop now on my own phew.
Finally getting things into some sort of order again after a big move into my shop.
I built a deck above my book cases where I placed my bed.
A few more months trading, especially over summer and i should be back on my feet again.

By the comments they make

yes Ellen , that's true , or just a grey ID

Just a tongue in cheek whinge

Everyone has a right to their opinion, even if it is bagging the site, but just as they have a right to bag the site, others have a right to bag them for their efforts.  An opinion is just an opinion, it's not a personal affront.  As a wise woman once said, the only people whose opinions should matter to you are those whose opinions you value.

I see some things never change lol.

I went to 4 Trash N' Treasure markets to buy stock today.
In some of them, people are breaking the rules selling copied pirate stuff, the market boss doesn't care as when he gets there the offending stall holder has covered their copies with clothes or placed them away from view.
The sellers up from him all complain and whinge to me about him etc, etc..
He's breaking the rules, she is selling what i've got blah blah blah.
Being a market, they attract all sorts, personalities, etc.
Being 2nd hand, it also attracts the bargain hunter and collector.
Quicksales is just like this in a way and will always be that way no matter how many rules are made.
Personally, we only give the whingers amunition if we bite their baite.
Imagine if you just left the post, thread or reply and responded to the ones that you thought worth your time?
The whingers would soon get the message nobody cares for their whinge or rewards it with a response.

Last sale was the Lifeline Bookfair in Canberra - good books, but a rather unhappy landing - see the qs book forum

I got to the Lifeline sale in Waragul, they brought a semi of books down from Canberra.
Already picked over in the berra, same prices and no specials.
Won't be doing that again if they have another sale in future.

Issabella, if you are referring to me saying * I no longer list * , in another thread, well so be it, I still have items for sale and will still buy if I can see something I want, just lost my enthusiasm for the site, as have others.  Marian

They prob still come in here to read what everyone is having for dinner lol? or to see what the latest gripe is...
Not to worry

PS...Everytime someone has a whinge that the site is slow I get sales...so I am not complaining!
Stuff I can't sell over yonder sells here! Work that out!
At least if its listed here, it has a chance of selling..no matter how long it takes to sell. JMHO

I have sold a fair bit on here in six years and I cannot recall any buyers saying they bought because they were influenced by comments in the forum, similarly noone has ever messaged me and said they were influenced not to buy because of the forums

No not just your comment marian , but it did make me wonder why so many people lately want to dig the boot in .

Opinions are fine , comments when they have little substance other then to create negativity is something else .

I'm sure there is a % of people that take notice of what gets said  not just here which may or may not at some stage influence their buying or selling here just like word of mouth about a store with bad service will prevent some people from shopping there .

Going OT is fine with me

 Hi Rama :-)
haven't seen you for ages

Re: having new rule/s - I think we have enough forum rules - IMHO
& we don't need any more

the forums are for everyone who is a member ( and isn't out in the cold ! )
- if they list - don't list - - buy or sell - new or old members

as long as members don't bully others - it doesn't bother me
as we all need to have a little whinge every now and then

Of course- the more positive members are - IMO - the more buyers want to come here
& the "community" is a big part of Q/S -
where members get behind each other and support each other- by helping each other

It's what I have loved about this site- since day one and you cannot get THAT elsewhere -

IMHO

cheers :-)

The banners for peoples stores look great in the category they mainly sell in.
obviously you need a store and groovy banner for it to happen.
Bit easier is the banners are directed at what the customer is interested in.
ie: a romance reader would like a few flowers and choccies or hunky guys in the banner to quickly know that's where the romance books are.

I'm sure we have been down this road and back again many times, I know there's going to be negative moaning types come into my shop as they do.
It's how you handle them and get on with what you know and do that counts IMO

Izzy, really, I don't think that comments like the above will win you any friends or attract you any new buyers.

P.S. - I told somene to 'bite me' once and nearly copped a one-way trip to Siberia.  Not everyone shares the same level of 'funny' as you and me, some might actually be offended by your remark.

totally agree, isabbella.  Under forum rule no. 8, an awful lot of comments bagging the site could (and should) be removed by the moderators:

No Defamation - Do not post any messages which slander, insult or defame us, quicksales, or any person, including our employees, representatives or other members of quicksales

I'd imagine you are probably referring to people whose one aim in life seems to be to come into the forums and run the place down, probably because they weren't successful here and they assume nobody else is, or they just don't want anyone else to be successful because they weren't.  I think it's called sour grapes.

No, I'm not talking about people like you, Marian.

actually, a few years ago in here people were openly saying that they came to the site for the amusement value of the forum arguments. And they stayed and bought or sold. So it might not be as bad as you think.

at least with controversy the forums seem to be busier than they have been for weeks. And I think sales were down before the complaints threads started, not as an effect of them. Or there wouldn't have been any complaint threads?
