i just got my iphone 4...what is the best case or cover to buy?
I have no idea what type of cover to buy for my phone

The iphone 4 looks lovely...but I am very rough on my phones, so I need a good cover

There seems to be a plethora of styles, makes and models

What are you all using to protect these delicate looking phones?

Thanks in advance for your ideas !

Hello Pashmina
I was just about ready to sign out when I seen your thread

I also got an iphone last week and while I was waiting to be served there was a young lady there also waiting to be served and we started to talk

She showed us what happened to her iphone 4
She left it sitting on the roof of her car and forgot about it and ran over it
The outside of it was shattered on both sides and would you believe the phone actually was still working all it needs is the replacement glass
If I had not seen it I would not have believed it

She told us that she had a cover on it and it most probably saved the phone if you could call it saved
I think she had a hard cover on it

I got a cover for mine today it cost me $39.95 but it was only a silicone one
Enjoy your new phone and I am off as it is way past my bedtime

Night all

Thank you Monty...no doubt you will read my reply in the morning., as I too am going to bed as soon as I write this to you

I have been a faithful Nokia user for approx 10 years...but as my contract was up, I thought it made sense to get a new phone

After much research, reading reviews etc..I decided to finally give the iphone a go

One of the main things I have seen in consumer reviews, as far as negatives go, is that the iphones shatter, just as you yourself saw first-hand!

I'm a klutz and on average drop my Nokia phone about once a month.  It either falls out of my handbag, or I knock it, or just drop it  etc

I do NOT want to do this to the iphone, as apparently they are quite delicate

If anybody knows of a good hard cover, or shatter proof cover, let me know

Cheers

My son has a heavy duty workers cover. which does make the phone bigger, but good for his needs, Marian

Hubby just got one of these newer style phones - a HTC Aria - got him a hard plastic case because he will destroy the phone without it - depending on what company you are with - go into one of their shops and they should have the right one for your phone, only about $14.95 - silicone ones were the same price - and don't forget the screen protectors!!

I have a leather flip case(bought it here of course). It has a stiff flap that covers the front of the phone and locks in place with magnets. There are openings for all the function buttons and ports you need to use, volume controls, charge port, camera etc. I have had my phone since last Easter and the case is just starting to wear (the magnets work their way out through the seams of the case), so I will probably replace it soon. It has saved the phone from damage several times in it's lifetime.

Hi.
My niece has a I Phone and dropped it on carpet - the screen cracked in a corner- Completely gone in that area.

She is concerned that dirt & other stuff will get into it and will damage it and took to get repaired ( or an idea of the repair)
They wanted $300 to fix the screen !

$300 !

she's not going to get it fixed  and is going to wait until she needs a newer one and then get that -
and a  cover for protection

I have always had a cover for all my phones - no matter if they were "bricks" or not :-)

I don't have an IPhone- just a normal Nokia  phone ( flip top ) - which could get the net I think-
( but I would need a magnifying glass )

when I went to inlaws for Xmas- EVERYONE had an IPhone and all were on the internet - IPhone- non stop
( last time- they were all  on laptops- and I didn't have one - got one inbetween  )
This time, I had  my laptop !
Next time I go down- I'll probably have an IPhone and they will have something new

- again - I am  years behind

but-  I am learning the mistakes that others have made and am picking things up - along the way

I have seen nephews and inlaws with IPhones - damaged and those with cases- not damaged
so- when I do finally get one- it will have a case

I hope you have fun with the Iphone
ACA or some show did a thing on how easy their screens crack & break - just dropping on something not hard -
- so, protection - IMO - would be worthwhile

Have fun & hope this helped
cheers :-)

Hello Marian...I wonder if your son has the Otter' cover?

I went to Vodafone and they recommended the  'Otter' cover, which is what labourers and tradesmen use. But it was $60! Too much for me!

I went down the mall and found the guy who sells the cheaper version of covers, he's always got a busy kiosk, it was packed today! I got the same thing as the Otter, only a copy version for $25, so I'm really happy!

Good morning everyone,
I would just like to give some advice if i may
Yes if you are a tradie of some desciption - yes buy a heavy duty cover.
""my saying is - Every lady needs a trady"" - i hope my mum doesnt pop in and see this lol - oops - she would here me say this when she would pick me up from tafe and it was the apprentices day.

if you are a ""pocket putter"" meaning you keep your phone in a shirt pocket - this is more for men - the silicone ones arent so great unless they are a smooth silicone. the rougher (cheaper) silcone ones seem to grab on the inside of your pocket especially if it is not a smooth type material.

have a nice day everyone.

I ended up with a tradie cover...which I used for many months...then I also bought wallet style covers in bulk for me and my family, as we all have iPhones.

I have listed a few on here as well which I am selling at minimal profit...as I had to by one of the styles my son liked, in a bulk pack of 10
