hi Marie
from the other thread I saw, two other sellers and I have added PayPal as a payment method for the months of the competition.
May we all have lots of sales!

Yep I agree!!. Regardless of what anyone thinks of paypal, I like it.. I feel it comes in handy especially when you know you can pay for the item right there and then and then its out of the way. The seller gets the funds straight away too. Hope you have a great day? cheers marie

What I'd like to know is how to REMOVE that competition box! Yes I offer paypal as a payment method but hate paying with it coz I know the fees involved for sellers & next to never use it for paying for items unless a rare overseas purchase...

So if I click 'enter' for this comp, will that box go away?????

After you enter the promotion (by ticking the checkbox) the promotion panel shrinks to:

Thank you for participating in the quicksales.com.au shopping spree promotion.
Spend $25.00 using PayPal to receive 1 entry into the draw.

No it wont go away. Just shrinks..But I am happy for that box to be there for me, as i was just thinking that its a good idea when I want to know how much I am spending via paypal etc. You should have a choice to remove it if you wanted to. marie

I agree coz like I said, we don't use paypal for ANY purchases other than rare overseas ones & with most of our purchases being within Australia plus having internet banking, Paypal is basically just a payment option for any of our buyers if they so choose.

busymitts  I also beleive that because you are responsible for what you sell/buy and its your account, I feel that you should have the right to have whatever you want and dont want on your pages as you do pay fees. But all in all, the box doesnt bother me at all.. cheers marie

Yeah I just clicked enter & reduce the size of box as shown above - more tolerable than something jumping out at me now, cheers! :)

People keep saying that with paypal sellers get the funds immediately, when in fact they don't.  It goes into their paypal account immediately, but to transfer to your bank account it takes 2-3 days, sometimes more.  If you want to use those funds to pay for things, well that's fine, but if you need the funds (especially the postage component) it isn't.

Don't get me wrong, I offer paypal and I haven't had an issue with it.  I also don't make a buyer wait until the funds get to my bank account.  I post asap.  However, some need the funds to cover the postage and if they have a few to post it can become an issue for them.

Oh, hang on - I do have an issue with them lol.  The fact that fees are charged on the postage component, that really irks me.

"People keep saying that with paypal sellers get the funds immediately, when in fact they don't"

Incorrect , and not a fact at all.

Any seller that sits on a PayPal payment and transfers it to their Bank Account before posting isn't doing themselves a favour . There's no reason not to ensure you have postage costs on hand to post a parcel.

I recently had that experience on e... and the seller waited 4 days before posting which then rolled over to the next Monday as she ran out of time on the Friday to post , mind you their Invoice system was the 'pay immediately' and the bill was paid with money from my PayPal account so was an instant payment and the notice from PayPal would have said "clear to post", hooray for the star system over there because that's where I reflected my disappointment in their service

If a seller needs to wait for a PayPal payment to clear into their bank then for goodness sake have a kitty for postage handy and don't hold your customers up .

Hi issabella.  Sorry but we will have to agree to disagree.  The seller may get the funds in their paypal account, but they cannot pay postage out of that account.  So until the funds are in their actual bank account, they do not get the funds immediately.  Not everyone wants to spend what goes into their paypal account.

Not everyone can 'hold' a certain amount for postage (in this economic climate) especially if it may be a significant amount.  However, I am fortunate enough to be able to do so.  I also don't  'sit' on parcels waiting for the funds to reach my bank account.  I post asap whether the payment was to paypal or my bank.

Whichever way you look at it, it still takes 2-3 days before you can physically get your hands on any money, so in my opinion it isn't instant.  And I do stress that is just my opinion

No that's true remayne, altho if they are with the same bank it is instant or overnight, which is a plus.

Not fair also when postage can be 2 to 3 times the price of the item.  Not very fair then at all.

What happens if Pay Pal reverse the payment back, when it turns out was paid by fraudulent money?
This happened to my daughter for a large sum of money. She was very lucky to get the item returned from overseas, thanks to australia post.
I dont think you really have payment til its in your bank. Marian

I clicked to enter, but I'm in Qld, and there is no licence for the promo registered here

As for Pay Pal I offer it, but know for sellers it stinks sometimes. If your account reaches $1000- your subject to anti-money laundering laws and have to go through a whole lot of id hog wash, then they shall consider releasing the money.
Can take up to 180 days to be released. They have been sued many a 100,000's times over it, always lost and had to release the funds - earning interest on it mind you....

Some people use it in bigger businesses and have been wipped out by them, holding their money, for 180 days.

But alas - I use it

After reading the rules & regs of this promotion, I think I will give it a miss. This bit I didn't like too much, I get enough spam as it is already....

1. All entries become the property of the Promoter.
This is a standard legal requirement. The Promoter must retain the entries for a specified time should an audit for legitimate operation of the promotion be required.

2. By entering the promotion, and unless otherwise advised, each entrant also agrees to be entered into a database and the Promoter may use the entrants' names, addresses, telephone numbers for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes, including sending the entrant electronic messages, unless otherwise advised by the entrant.
The Promoter is
carsales.com Ltd. not Paypal.
You already give them this information when you join the site.
As for usage of it, you already have the ability to opt out of site notifications. They also mention twice that you have the right to deny them use of the information should you be a winner.

3. By entering the promotion, and unless otherwise advised, each winner agrees that the Promoter may use the winners' names and likeness in any media worldwide, without notice and without any fee being paid.
As with most promotions, the winners names must be published in a suitable matter as a legal requirement of the license to operate the promotion.
The Promoter  will be announcing the names of the winners on this site. Quicksales can be accessed globally, therefore the use of the term "worldwide".
Once again, you are advised that you have the right to deny them use of the information should you be a winner.

I do emphasise, The Promoter is carsales.com Ltd. not Paypal.

Looks like the standard terms of any competition, raffle etc that one enters anywhere, even those supermarket chits.

Carsales have to have your permission to even publish your name here, if a winner, nothing sinister, just standard procedure.

And if you don't like Spam, stop going to places that do use your details to pass on to others.

And don't use Hotmail.
I get no Spam to my ISP emaill and rarely on Yahoo, but Hotmail was atrocious.
So I have heard are Incredimail etc, and many contain viruses and spyware and who knows what they do with the information.
Same with Facebook and Twitter.

Life is a risk and the only cure is to not go anywhere or do anything.

"I'm in Qld, and there is no licence for the promo registered here"

Two points to note:
1. It is the responsibility of the Promoter to comply with all State and Territory requirements, not the participants.
2. A Quickcheck reveals that permits are not required in Qld. or W.A. due to the requirement that entry is only open to Australian residents who are 18 years and over.
