How to buy Authentic Designer items
I found a seller this morning selling over 6 pages of "authentic" designer goods, yet the majority (if not all) were fake.
A note to potential buyers - please do your research and be aware of your items.
Here's a few tips to start with:
1 - contact the retail outlet and find out the RRP and design details of the particular item. Sales people are more than willing to help
2 - contact user groups - I find MyPoupette a great resources for Louis Vuitton and other high end designer leathergoods
3 - ask the seller many questions, if they don't respond, avoid them. If its authentic, they'll have nothing to hide
4 - look at the sellers feedback and sold items. How many of the one item have they sold? Do you honestly think that 10 Chanel handbags worth $2000+ each are going to be authentic when they are being sold for $100 each?! The answer: probably not.
If you have any other points, please add them to this topic!!
If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me - I am here to help!!!
Regards
Stephanie
(Note - I'm not here to judge or tell you whether an item is authentic, I'm helping out as a guide so you can make your own decision!)

It has been my experience , that reporting each listing to the relevant company , has some surprising results .
It takes a concerted effort

sorry but I would say that 99.9% of all "authentic" designer items sold on any auction place are fake. Why would any seller sell a NWT item worth 1000'S $$$ for $200??
If some had such an income to spend on designer items I doupt they would be here selling there items? If buyers stopped believing they are buying authentic items then the sellers would go away but why would they when they get $200+ per item that usually gones from asia??
Go to vic market for example and you can buy $20 Channel bags with there lables lol...
If you want a real item then go to the real shop and buy them. No sellers going to make a huge loss and most designer items dont sell wholesale items.

I'm always disappointed seeing sellers here with their fake Tiffany, Gucci, LV, etc.
It cheapens the site - makes it look as though there's nothing much but cheap junk here. People who want to buy genuine items should be looking in shops for them, not online.
Admin should be cracking down on counterfeits, both to improve the site and also to protect their own backs. They could end up in trouble.
In the US, as many know, there's a huge lawsuit by Tiffany against the Bay, because of the amount of fake "Tiffany" they had listed. And as a consequence, there's not much Tiffany stuff listed on the Bay any more.
I just did a quick search.
On the Bay, Australia - 133 items found in search for Tiffany in the
Jewellery
category
On Oztion - 5749 items found in search for Tiffany in the
Jewellery and Watches
category.
Those figures are just awful

There are also no such faulty genuine designer labels. if they don't pass the test, they are destroyed (burnt) straight away. I was told this by a friend who works in real designer shop.

No use reporting fakes and counterfeits and pirated games to OZTION - As we all know they do not and will not do anything.
Instead write to adrian@jumbuck.com (the MD) and olivia@jumbuck.com (the CEO) - they are the new owners and it is they who will have to explain the huge fines and compensation payouts to their shareholders (including Jeff Kennet).

It really bugs me that Oztion is doing very little to stop of the sale of counterfeit goods on its site. You are right - it cheapens the whole site. People are always moaning about getting ripped off on the Bay. Soon Oztion will be appearing on current affairs shows with the same suckers complaining about their $50 channel bag they thought was genuine. Buyers are always going to be trusting and gulliable. Oztion needs to minimise this by minimising the crud on offer.
I don't want to see Oztion go belly-up when one of the big brand names starts suing. And they will. It's only a matter of time. Oztion managers and owners need to seriously consider this a threat to their business.

if there are still buyers...there will be sellers...
i was asked by friends to buy fakes...others who know me will think they are 'real' anyway. but i know it's fake..and for sure that will be a waste of money coz i won't use it.
but i know lots of friends who can't afford the real thing, and don't mind buy n use or wear the 'fake' around. AND.. i also know they who have more money and still buy fakes.....
all supply n demand...
if you argue that cheap fake bags made by 'underpaid' children in third world country...well..if they didn't make the 'fake items or sold them'...they had no money for food.
my opinion anyway...please don't kill me..:)

I was directly emailed by someone (they might be from here) with their "authentic" Herve Ledger, Prada, LV etc. I forwarded their email onto LV, who responded immediately, but when i called Prada, they didnt seem to give two hoots.
people like the designer look, but not the price. Many fakes are made my what you could call slave labour, and children! Is it worth buying a fake?

Hi steph, just been going through the forums here - so glad i found this topic. yes i think i have just found who you mean,.
b......postage $30.00 on shoes - ps if they are going to take 2-3 weeks - its obvious they are coming from overseas - but isnt there some requirement that states it must say that in the listing.
ooohhh its all too hard for me. lol. can someone save me from brain strain.
