Might be just as well I'm going to South Australia for Christmas.

Although on a more positive note - if it's raining there are no locusts or mozzies :)

We had a little rain last night, today is dull and overcast but not cold.

The locusts havent reached us yet in our little country town. Hope they dont either.

Cool and cloudy here in the foothills of the Blue Mountains.  We're expecting the Ins builders this afternoon to cut up the tree that fell through our fence on Thurs, then to secure the fenceline until the fencers can come.  Hubby has taken the car to be assessed for hail damage.
I'm going to take advantage of the cool temp and make the shortbread and ice the cake.  I don't usually do the cake quite this early, but we'll need some for Monday.
Stay warm everyone!

Windy and cold here, I'm thinking it wasn't such a good idea to rip the wood heater out. Around 20c difference to this time last year!!
Where is Al Gore and the rest of the global warming "experts"??  Very quiet, maybe they've sitting in front of their fires.

And Gidday Lisa, hope alls going well with the nags and your getting up a few winners.

ohhh so glad we are not still in Melbourne too cold there for me..lol. I know when we let the UK for Aussie people were saying ohh you will be able to have Christmas on the beach.. we never did.. always too cool/cold or overcast. on the odd time it was nice there was too much traffic heading to the beaches. I think we have had one Christmas at the beach that was about 3years ago at Vietnam. our Cruise ship docked there.

Hi Oz - yeah not bad - horses are going ok - just not winning many.  My horse is probably the best of them at the moment - won 6 or 8 races last season/this season - so not complaining, he's in tonight at Tabcorp.

They say this silly state (can you tell I'm not a real Victorian lol) has all 4 seasons in one day - sun is out not - still windy and cool though - a nice 15.5 degrees now.................

Must be the end of the world as told in the bible I think fires last year ago, then floods this year, as well and locust plagues - what's next?

Global Warming isnt just about geting hotter. As we can see the weather is getting far more extreme, different weather patterns. In countries where they plan for rain now cannot plan as the weather pattern has changed. So farmers are suffering. Warm is just one part of global warming.
Maybe check out 'Home 2009' on youtube to better understand or 'Extreme Weather Heros' which is Australian: http://www.extremeweatherheroes.org/

I got sent this link recently and it was an interesting read and food for thought about Global warming and how much, i wonder,  is based on hype.
There is no proof that the current warming is caused by the rise of greenhouse gases from human activity. Ice core records from the past 650,000 years show that temperature increases have precedednot resulted from—increases in CO2 by hundreds of years, suggesting that the warming of the oceans is an important source of the rise in atmospheric CO2.

Yep. We, the human race, did not start, nor did we end the last ice age, but we are most likely, accelerating the present weather paten with our industrial activity. David.

Government & business were not interested in GW until it became apparent  that handled to their advantage  there was a lot of profit to be made.
I do believe that pollution needs to be checked but I don't believe carbon credits & carbon tax achieve anything except raise prices to the end user & expand profits to the producers.
Government regulation of industry is the only thing that may work as from my point of view Industry self regulation is  a complete joke.
The years between 950 to 1300 were hotter than now being preceeded  & succeeded  by cool periods.
Man has grown to believe that there is nothing it can not control & now it is faced with some thing it can not control is in a frenzy to be seen as to be able to control all.
I HOPE EVERYONE ENJOYS THE FESTIVE SEASON IN WHATEVER MANNER THEIR BELIEFS DICTATE .
