Getting a freight estimate from Temando
It's been a while since I last used Temando, and I would like to give a potential buyer an estimate of postage cost of a large bulky item. The item exceeds the max girth of a box allowed by Au Post, so will have to go by courier.

I have entered all relevant info into the Freight Booking calculator -- to and from postcodes, dimensions of box (in cm) and weight (in g), but it keeps asking me to Please check your suburb and postcode. I KNOW both suburbs and postcoides are correct, so why will it not let me proceed?

If the buyer has a city instead of a suburb in their address, you may need to ask them for the suburb name. The system is very precise, for example if you put in Melbourne 3135 it will reject this as Melbourne means Melbourne city centre and the Postcode is 3000.   Also, there may be a number of suburbs that share the same postcode so it can't tell exactly where the parcel is going to calculate the cost without a valid suburb.

For example the address may read
Name: John J Citizen
Address: 24 Park st  Riverside
Suburb:  Melbourne
VIc 2322

The system will bring the address in as Melbourne 2322 when it should be Riverside 2322.

Does that make sense?

Yes it makes sense Boo, but I definitely know mine is correct. So I thought I'd better check the info the buyer gave me which was Camden NSW 2567. When I checked the AP website, this appears to be incorrect. How could a buyer not know her suburb and postcode??? Camden's postcode is 2570 and the postcode she gave me belongs to somewhere called Narellan. Google maps shows they are neighbouring towns, but really!!!

also check the spelling of the suburb , ours has changed but the corrected spelling still hasn't been adopted by AP and similar postal calculators.

Some buyers use the neighbouring larger suburb to provide some level of privacy, knowing that the main PO will know that that PC belongs to the smaller suburb.  It's annoying but it isn't an issue with AP, just with couriers.

Why not put in two quotes one for town 1 and one for town 2.
If there is a difference then quote both to the buyer and ask then which one is the right one.
