Express Lister detailed information on listings to be transferred to a new computer
Hoping you can help.  I am purchasing a new computer and wanted to transfer my detailed information (eg photos, description etc from my current items) to this new computer.  How can I do this.  I put an enquiry into help, but only got the answer " step 1    Open Express Lister and select Options - Export saved items (from the menu bar)
step 2    Save the file in a location on your computer
step 3    copy file to your other computer
step 4    follow the instructions to select and import the file you saved in step 2.
Problems I have found are that 1.  There is no Options (under file, nor tools, nor any of the other headings)
2.  If from a R click on the items, I select export it goes to xml file then selection or entire data base, so I have tried both, but all that gets copied are the title descriptions in My Items, not the detailed information on each item.
Express Lister is version 2.5.194 and I am on Windows Xp with all updates.  My new computer will have windows 7 on it.
I hope someone has an answer for me.  Many thanks,

hi Jan. now I haven't tried this ..but.. i'm thinking if you have a transfer cable you can join one pc to the other and move stuff across..as far as I have heard...or maybe via a USB stick up load to that put that in your new pc upload.
the other way I would of said but by the sound of it you have already tried is to download all listed items to EL then from that download you move them to the categories you want them in.
that is what I done ages ago i'm sure all info and pics came with it...not sure. so long ago.

Hi Jan , I'm sure there is a way to do it according to those instructions and someone might post it soon .

I've only experienced the same as you but what I could suggest is that

on the new PC , install EL

Download all your current selling items into EL .

Far easier then to try and save and transfer from one PC to another .

There have been all sorts of posts about this in the past with member's reporting various degrees of success ........
This method I know works ......

As EL is a stand alone program, the first thing you need to do is install a fresh EL on your new Win7 FRED ....
You can set up folders & things now or later as you choose.
Any EL templates will also need to be recreated.

Then ...
Using old  XP FRED, upload every EL listing you have as an active selling item into Q/S .... They will load into your Selling list & go live.
Then immediately go in to your listings page and use the bulk action system to end all the new listings. They will then go unto your Unsold list.

Now, open up EL in your new Win7 FRED and upload all Unsold items. You can then move them into whatever folders you choose .....

Takes about 5 minutes.

Thank you everyone.  Tried the first couple, but still couldn't get it over, although to be fair, I haven't got a transfer cable, but will have a go via the last one, and hope.  Thanks once again.  Jan
