EXCITING BUYER PROMOTION .... this looks great !!!
As a valued seller of quicksales.com.au we would like to inform you of an upcoming buyer promotion we'll soon be running. This promotion will benefit you and maximise your sales.
In conjunction with PayPal, quicksales is excited to announce the launch of our $50,000 shopping spree! The promotion will run from April 20th to May 25th, with buyers able to win one of 500 x $100 quicksales vouchers. To qualify for the competition, buyers must spend $25 on quicksales, and choose PayPal as their payment method. Bonus entries will be awarded for every additional $25 spent. The $25 qualification amount does not need to be spent in one transaction - transactions over the promotional period will be cumulative to qualify for entry or bonus entries.
100 lucky winners will be drawn each week. The vouchers are redeemable on quicksales.com.au and are only valid with sellers that accept PayPal. The vouchers have a 60 day validity, so this promotion will continue to benefit our sellers past the promotional period

If you don't offer PP that's your choice, I respect that....but surely either way it will bring more traffic to the site

More traffic should equate to more sales for ALL of us

"More traffic should equate to more sales for ALL of us"

If the buyers use Paypal.

My question is, why not the Australian company Paymate?

Buyer Protection covers the buyers who use Paymate and Paypal.

my guess would be because Paymate hasn't offered a lucrative deal to the admin here and Paypal has?

while buyers will come to look at Paypal items they'll be browsing all items to find them so chances of others getting a sale not through Paypal would be fairly high. The worst case scenario..........seller doesn't offer Paypal so buyer puts the item on watch until after the promotion is over.

It's all good.

Gives me more incentive to list here than the pick a couple of categories and promote those for the month that they've been doing. At least this one is open to sellers of all categories and the ones not offering PP have the option to offer it if they want.

Thing is, the sellers not offering PP have been told many times that it's costing them sales. Buyers have often said in here that they prefer Paypal and are more inclined to go looking for where to spend PP $ they have in their account. Not all buyers use it but the majority seem to.

I understand that some don't like to offer it but it's their choice. Some won't buy if you don't offer certain types of postage or freight, some won't buy if the description is too long or too short, some won't buy if you have TOS that aren't to their liking.................this is no different. Offer/spend PP or don't be in the competition.

I love using paypal for paying for items and I dont mind accepting payments that way as well. But if the seller doesnt accept paypal and only bank deposit as a form for payment, that doesnt stop me from buying. If I want the item, I will pay for it regardless if the seller accepts paypal or not. Doesnt worry me. marie

As long as most sellers don't start switching to only offering PayPal as a means of payment I don't really care.

I buy what I want when I want, regardless of any promotion, and always have.

My question is, why not the Australian company Paymate?

Because Paymate aren't offering to partner with QS  for promotions like this.  There was a similar Paypal promo a few years back, PP pay some of the costs and in return they get more payments coming through and probably a good number of sellers signing up to offer PP as well.  The poetic justice in this is that Ebay (who own PP) pay out to encourage people to buy from the opposition.  :o)

My point exactly Pisces. If you want to be part of the comp you pay with or offer payment by PP. It's choices not saying that you must any more than saying this montths promotion is in homewares means you suddenly have to invest in stock to suit that category. Choices.

Guess the forums will show the results.

My choice at this time is to concentrate on Good News Week.

I also mention in my listings that I offer Paypal if asked, but don't have the paypal tick.  I might also include the logo now and see if it does make a difference, although I've only ever had half a dozen people ask over quite a few years, plus of course my overseas buyers

I don't offer paypal as a payment option because most of my sales are only very low cost items.  As I read the promotion email all items to be in this sale have to be listed before tomorrow  20th April.  Does that mean if items are listed after the 20th they will not be counted in the $25 sales promotion.   I have a lot of things here I could list but to join in the sale can you only have paypal on some items??  To put paypal on $1-2 in my opinion isn't worth listing because of the fees.
I am off to work now so will check back later. Thank you.

Blackduck I would not think so because how do buyers know when an item is listed, I think admin are just trying to encourage sellers to get their items listed asap, mind you I could be wrong, but I think if only items listed before the 20th are counted in the promotion there will be a great hullaballoo at the end if buyers find they have not qualified.

I have not received the promotion email, only seen it here when pashmina posted it.

PayPal are running the promotion, in conjunction with QuickSales, so they get to specify that only sales paid via PayPal are included. Seems reasonable to me that if you're paying for a promotion you wouldn't want to promote your competitors service.

It covers all sales made during the promotion period, not items initially listed during the promotion.

PayMate have not been an Australian company for a few years. They are now very much an American company.

I don't know why people have such a bug about PayPal. I've been using it for about eight years, with thousands of transactions, all over the world. I've never had a problem with PayPal. As with anything, do a lot of reading and understand how it works, and always play by the rules. You only get into trouble if you fail to understand or if you try to bend the rules.

A suggestion to somebody up there ^^ who said they had smaller ticketed items.

Why not create a few bulk packs, if at all possible?

Make a few items at exactly the $25 mark....surely that will encourage buyers?

And yes I love Paypal and have been using it for years, with NO dramas

I was told Paymate moved to the US but was still an Australian company. Not prepared to argue the point as I don't care enough to go investigate it myself. Just stating the facts as they were told to me.

I read that promo originally as must be listed by that date. Then read it again later and thought noooooo what they mean is list lots by that date to make sure you have plenty for buyers to choose from once the promo starts thus upping your chance of becoming a raging success as a seller by the end of it.

And yeah I did ponder how they'd know if it was listed after the 20th at first. The buyer can't possibly know so it can't work that way.

unlike the egg hunt where only items listed before a certain date got eggs on them

"Make a few items at exactly the $25 mark....surely that will encourage buyers?"

Not necessarily. If it's scrapbooking items that could mean a lot of things in colours, themes etc the buyer doesn't want.

And I read it that "buyers must spend $25 on quicksales' to mean over the entire site not just from one seller.

As for Paymate, I too believed it had been sold to the US as it was stated so in the forums but read in the forums recently it isn't.
Don't care enough to do a search for information as I only mentioned because I figured an Australian site should support other Australian businesses first.

Edit.
To the person who thought it may be a scam, I think there will be an Announcement as the email seems to have been sent to Sellers only. Yep, they still consider me a seller

And now to lighten the traffic load, I will take myself off.

The Company

Paymate is a US company with offices in Silicon Valley, USA, Ottawa, Canada, and Sydney, Australia. We provide information, risk and financial management services tailored for global e-commerce.

They didn't even bother to maintain the .com.au domain name redirected to the .com domain.
They do have an Australian Business Number and an Australian Financial Services Licence. But they are an American company.

If I sold Scrapbooking...I would try my best, to make up some bulk packs in specific colours and themes.

I've quite often bought in bulk for my sis-in-law.  She's thrilled when I get a 500gram satchel sent her way of all those bit's a pieces

Also my comment of making up some $25 bulk packs...where to encourage buyers to spend with that particular seller.  Hence more sales for them, for me....for all of us

The email is not a scam.
It is a private message sent only to registered Quicksales sellers to let them know of an imminent quicksales Buyer Promotion and give them as much time as possible to decide how they want to take advantage of it.

"The $25 qualification amount does not need to be spent in one transaction - transactions over the promotional period will be cumulative to qualify for entry or bonus entries."

This is very much in the buyer's favour as they can purchase from a variety of sellers and build their total balance.
As the promotion is run co-jointly with Paypal, the $25 increments are based on total amount paid
To clarify that, the $25 increments will include postage & handling.
Therefore, bargain value sellers offering Paypal will also benefit as a buyer doesn't have to purchase a set priced item and is free to build their balance site-wide.

Balances in excess of the $25 qualification limit will automatically go towards the next bonus entry.
Eg: Buyer purchases an item with a total (incl. S&H) of $33. This will provide them with the $25 qualification entry and $8 towards their next bonus entry. Therefore every purchase made and paid for via Paypal, irrespective of $ amount, during the promotion period from any seller will count towards the promotion prizes.

The promotion runs for 5 weeks - April 20th to May 25th.
There will be 5 weekly draws of 100 buyers. That is $10,000 worth of Quicksales vouchers (they can only be spent with Quicksales sellers) given away each week. Buyers who are unlucky in each draw will be automatically included in consecutive draws. That means that a buyer who qualified in the first week can still win in the final draw.

Note: To provide maximum opportunity for sellers, it should be understood that this period includes the extra long Easter break and Mother's Day.

All items listed
on Quicksales during the Promotion Period where Paypal is offered are eligible, irrespective of when they were or are listed. However, the sooner your item is listed, the longer it has eligibility.

As mentioned above, bargain value sellers may benefit from a Paypal Micropayment account. Using this facility, the Paypal fee for a $4 transaction is 25 cents.
More information about Paypal Micropayment accounts may be found here:  https://micropayments.paypal-labs.com/

DB that would not have anything to do with the promotion as it does not start til tomorrow. But nice to see you had a sale,  Marian

Hi Marian,
Yes, I realise that, I just wondered if I would have had the sale without offering PP....food for thought?

For those saying why not run a Paymate promotion. Paymate and OZtion did run a promotion together. Prize was an iPod - it was a few years ago now. I used to offer Paymate, but then they cancelled my account for an unknown reason, and have ignored my emails to them about it since, and I have emailed quite a few times so I can re-offer it as a choice to my customers.
Really looking forward to this promotion, sounds like a great one!

I am wondering how the buyers are going to know about this promotion, I have 3 sellers accounts and the only information I have is what I read in the forum, its almost the 20th and no announcement on the front page hmmmmmmmm

Was hoping you were right pash but still nothing on the front page and no email to either of my accounts, pretty poor show in my opinion.

I wouldn't imagine there would be an announcement for buyers before today, otherwise that might have stopped them from buying something til the promotion began?

Today is the day! Think positive :)

I'm guessing it will take the place of the Mothers Day sale that finished yesterday. Also advertised on Bikepoint so again guessing it will be rolled across all sites. And then they'd email members of all?

It's in your own account / profile

Enter our promotion and for every $25 you spend on quicksales using PayPal before the 25th May 11, you will receive an entry into the draw for a $100 quicksales voucher.

So, you have to actually hit the submit button to join in?  It is not an automatic thing that happens when you buy. Ohh OK

Looks like the Freds are awake .....

One would expect so remayne ....
Contacting all members is something I would do ....
& I certainly would expect the support of the other sites in promoting mine ....

Yep. Just saw that Fishy .... & clicked.

Desirable, accepting the terms and conditions ..... it would be a legal thing.

For anybody who does not get any Quicksales' Notifications, go to

My Account

then way down on the bottom left is

Notifications.

Click on that and tick on the appropriate boxes.

Then click on the

Save Notifications Settings Button.

Edit.

"Desirable, accepting the terms and conditions ..... it would be a legal thing."

I have ticked the box but whether I actually use PayPal as a method of payment remains to be seen, but that's OK. Most promotions start after I have finished shopping. Sigh!

And that's a joke Joyce!
True though.
