EFUDIX cream...anyone used it?
and what we your results like?
My skin specialist has got me using this for pre-cancerous areas on my face. I am up to day 4 and my skin is blotchy and very sensitive. The first couple of days were OK but now, along with the sensitivity my skin feels quite tight.
I have been told I am lucky as everywhere else is fine, apart from some solar keratosis which will be dealt with later. I have also had 3 BCC'c removed but that was years ago.
Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

I used Effudix for a small spot (5mm) about 8 years ago. It was slow (3 weeks) and unsightly - but it cleared up with no scarring & no recurrence...so I was glad I persevered.

It's hard to just apply the cream to the affected area & not the rest. It sounds as if you are covering quite a large area.

Unfortunately I have to do my entire face except for the eyes and lips - the price I pay for the tanning when I was young. I am also doing a few spots on my legs, so it will be interesting to see the results.

I was told what to expect and have done some research but the reality of the situation is really starting to hit home. Maybe now my kids might understand why I am so insistant that they wear sunscreen and hats.

I used to work for a dermatologist in the US and this cream really is excellent stuff. yes, it is not always a pleasant experience, but it is better than the alternative (skin cancers). I don't want to freak you out, but I am surprised your doctor didn't tell you more about the side effects......unfortunately they can be a bit harsh, but just remember it is temporary!
I have seen some patients who after using this cream for awhile, looked like they had severe sunburn. They were given moisturising creams (specially forumlated to ease the tightness and burn) - and it is obviously not necessarily 'pretty'......but afterwards, their skin was smooth and importantly, the cancerous or pre-cancerous areas were treated. Try to see it as a temporary situation for longer term gains.

My father had bad BCCs & SCCs on his face and he did not like the treatments. The end result was a SCC grew from a spot on his cheek up to his lower eye-lid. He lost his lower eye-lid and had to have it reconstructed from a skin flap behind his ear, and he also lost a piece from his nose (tip). Too many people think BCCs and SCCs are 'harmless'. Yes, they are slow growing, and it is rare for them to go deep or enter the blood or lymph and travel (metastisize) BUT they still need treating.

I am sorry you are finding the cream difficult, but if you put it into perspective, it is far more short term and non-disfiguring compared to scarring from nitrous oxide (freezing) or shave or punch biopsies or excisions to remove the cancers! (or worse....like my poor dad).

Best of luck to you - it is a brilliant treatment and it will be worth it in the end!

Hello,  I have now been applying the cream for 2 weeks and I am feeling VERY sore and look worse.  Unfortunately, as much as the brochures advise against using around the eyes and nose, this is the exact place that I have to apply it.  I now look like a metho drinker with swollen (bulbous) red nose, one eye in particular is sore and red.  When I apply the cream it feels as though my finger is rough sandpaper and it stings for quite some time.  It Maybe not though as I have had to have my whole lip radiated in the past as burning and cutting out the (whatever it was that kept growing there), just did not work.  My lip is the only part of my face that feels normal now.  Thank you kittykate for the information you gave.

I have been using this cream for about a month my skin is a bit red but I have not had any bad reaction so the doctor said I have to use it longer to wait for a severe reaction
