dsi games help needed
Hi, My grandson has a dsi.   I've seen some games for sale with NTSC format (from o/seas), will they play on his dsi or not?

If the dsi was bought in Australia it will probably be a PAL version thus not working with NTSC as that is the American format. They are region locked.

As a general rule... US gaming devices use NTSC format... whereas Australian gaming devices use PAL format... so normally this would suggest that they are not compatible.

While the Nintendo DS is region free in the sense that any console will run a Nintendo DS game purchased anywhere in the world... the Nintendo DSi has a region lock for the DSiWare downloadable games, as well as DSi-specific cartridges. However, it should still run normal DS games of any region.

So to answer your question... it would depend entirely on whether the games you have seen overseas are DS or DSi cartridges.

Thank you both.   I wasn't sure if it the same principle applied to dsi's as it does to DVD's, but looks like it does :)
