Does Clinique provide/sell foundation samples?
Living rurally, my local chemists don't stock Clinique.

I'm needing to buy a new foundation & have no idea what shade I need, so need some samples to play with.

Do Clinique (or maybe even Lancome) do samples of their foundation?

Alternatively, can anybody recommend another brand.

I start off dry in the morning after cleansing (neutragena) then moisturise

But by mid afternoon I get the 'shine' on the forehead and nose so I'm assuming I need an oil free foundation

Have been using a skin cancer SPF one, that just doesn't seem to suit & needs to be dabbed off mid afternoon

I have a mineral powder but it is the wrong shade also - seems I keep buying the wrong stuff.
I want to get it right without buying the full size products

I'm in my early forties with the ocasional break out

Anybody in similar situation with a tested & proven foundation?

Thanks

Hi, Clinique NEVER sells samples, they are free!
You sound like a typical combination skin type with oily areas, and dry areas.
As an ex consultant, Clinique would recommend Superbalanced foundation for moderate coverage, theres also Almost makeup with SPF 15 for a sheer coverage, and some of their other foundations are also oil free suitable for the first signs of ageing.
There are a few other good makeup brands out there too, DIor, Estee Lauder etc, all make nice foundations.
You could call the head office, and ask them to send you a sample to see how you like it as well!

Suggest a spray on mist foundation, the coverage is better, lighter and tone match better! Nepoleon Perdis is wonderful.. also when trying to match a foundation, put in on your face right on the bottom of your jaw line, pick the tone that when rubbed in your skin you can barely notice. Trying foundation on your hand or wrist is silly.
Getting an even skin tone is easy with mist foundation. I am a image consultant/personal stylist by the way..

Hi
Mineral make-up is wonderful for your skin, and as i have combination skin too, i find that it sits really well, but you do need a good brand of minerals to get a beautiful finish. I would recommend Inika which is an Australian 100% mineral range and also id Bare Minerals, both of which are super fine! Online you can get an idea of the colours available then request samples from there. I would also recommend buying a kabuki brush to apply. Body Shop now carries one and it'll be a lot cheaper than the one I bought years ago when minerals were just coming out...

Minerals allow your skin to breath, even if you're naughty and don't remove it before going to bed ;o)

Thanks Missy, I have the right brush, just the wrong shade of mineral powder, might have to get some more samples
ps, never naughty, always cleanse & moisturise before bed
