I have about the same.
I prefer my PVR 1 gig hard drive, but knowing what I know now I wish I had of bought a duel tuner PVR. (Personal Video Recorder)
I though it was but no..it's not.
I also have a PVR/set top box this style is cheaper but no where near as good they do not have a hard drive you record via a USB stick.
my one turns it self off after about 2 hours which is very annoying if I an recording on the USB and on the video while in another room watching and recording on to the hard drive. Hubby works afternoon shift so I have to record his shows for him.
you can get a DVD HD recorder, it is all a matter of preference.
there are other threads here regarding PVR's if you want to check them out. they might help you decide.

Hi rick,
I have a Panasonic Blu-Ray Disc Recorder ( DMR-BW850) with 500GB hard drive installed and Duel Digital Tuners, the advantage with this is it records HD programs on HDD and you can edit & save to a DVD disc, blu-ray disc or DVD-Ram disc or Flash Drive and also has the advantage of playing Blu-Ray disc's and DVD disc's.

My advice is to get a DVR (1) with a hard drive - and as big as you possibly can* (2)  which allows copying to DVD (3) has twin HD tuners.

* you'll be surprised how quickly the HD can fill up.
