Colour Analysis - Gold Coast or Brisbane ??
Hi all,
Have you ever had a Colour Analysis done? If yes, was it worth the money?

My wardrobe is boring! Full of denim, navy and white clothes, and a few items in beige/brown tones.
I want to put more colour into my clothing but I don't want to waste money on colours that don't really suit me.
Can anyone recommend a Colour Analysist on the Gold Coast or Brisbane southside?

I have had it done twice - by different consultants from the same "company" so you would expect the results to be the same from both consultants, right?  Wrong.  So in hind site it was a total waste of my money and I am still none the wiser to what are my best colours to wear.

Its all suppose to be based on skin tones and eye colour - hair colour is dismissed as we change it all the time and it has no impact on what suits us.  Clothing shapes are the only thing that would change if my weight had gone up or down but even that was the same and styles advised to suit me were also different.

So why was I advised two different things by 2 consultants that had exactly the same training??

Who knows but take what ever they tell you with a grain of salt.

Waste of time....

Take some close girlfriends that you know you can trust & are honest. Go try on many different sorts of coloured clothing. They will tell you what looks good/bad and its free or you can buy them a coffee....

Thanks nefer_sold, that is very interesting, and kind of puts me off the whole idea.
Might have to go with Gal's suggestion... or stick with my navy and white colour scheme ;-)

Bev,

If you go shopping with your girlfriends ask them to be 100% honest with you about colour and shape of clothing when you try it on.  If your bum looks big in a style you seriously want to know, or if it makes you look old, or mutton dressed as lamb, right?  If that blouse that you love on the rack makes you look washed out in the store you are never going to wear it when you get it home.  Its not the shop lighting its the colour against your skin tone.  Get out of the change room and into the shop so your girlfriends can get a fashion parade and see the garment on you properly.

You may very well be a "Winter" colouring and look best in white, black, navy, red - all the primary colours but its also about getting the shape and fit of clothing correct.

Just think about coats and blazers.  Do you look better in a double breasted jacket or a single buttoning one - these are the things that the Consdultant is suppose to advise you on.  Single buttoning looks best on a petite person as the double breasted coat is too overpowering.  And length of jacket is also important - below waist, hip or a little longer?  Skirts - fitted, full, long or short?

So many decisions so take your most honest girlfriends with you.

Happy shopping

My sister had a colour consultancy done years ago and she took what the consultant said as gospel truth and has never wavered from the colours which were supposed to suit her best. I disagree with what she believes are 'her' colours. But I don't dare tell her because she would think it's just another example of how 'chalk and cheese' we are. Opposite opinions on almost everything.
