can't use express lister to upload a pic from my computer
Dear Quicksale team,

I tried many times to upload a jpeg picture from my computer using express lister under Description+Images+Features--Description builder. I clicked the "Image" button under "Description builder" and clicked "Local file with absolute path" to pick up a pic from my computer. I can show on the Description builder however, when i uploaded the item onto quicksales, it couldn't show the pic. Actually, it can show one of my local pics but not the other one. I've tried to minimise the size of the pic to 222kb, but it still cannot show. I've designed the pic for a long time, it really disappointed me. If you could give me some advice, I'll really appreciate it.

Kind regards,
Vicky

If you are trying to insert pictures into the description area, they need to be hosted somewhere like Photobucket first, then you copy the url and paset it into the dialogue box that comes up wehn you click the picture tool.  You can use pictures from your hard drive to upload as gallery pics using the picture boxes below the description area, but not inside the description box.

not too sure on the max size of pics allowed.
but try to open pic in "paint" then save as jpeg. even throu it is already jpeg. this might make the pic smaller. I always get around it that way.

In EL, to use photos in your Description, they need to be "hosted" on an internet site for eg Photobucket.  I have found the best width for my pictures is 750 pixels.  Height doesn't really matter, but over 750 pixels wide and I think they "stretch" the screen and a scroll would be needed for a buyer to view the entire picture.

I use Irfanview for resizing my pictures as it give the best compression without loosing quality.

It might take a little bit of playing and hopefully someone will come along with a bit more advice, but you need to copy the direct link from your host site into the HTML in EL.  In the Description Builder in EL, almost at the end of the top line is the HTML button.  Click on that, it will take you to the HTML page, paste your link and then click on HTML again and it will take you back to the normal screen.

Once you are on the normal screen and can see your picture, you can resize it and move it to wherever you want it to be in your Description.

I use another site to build my listings, but I do quite often move and resize pictures directly in EL.

Hope this has helped.

Cheers

Hi,  I have had photos stored in photobucket since I joined here in March 2006 and I have never had to pay anything.  I have never been asked to pay anything or had any photos removed.  As far as I know photobucket is totaly free.

Its free to use photoucket but I thnk you have to log into your account there once every 1-2 months otherwise your pictures may be removed.

>> I have found the best width for my pictures is 750 pixels. <<

When I first listed here about 3.5 years ago, I emailed OZtion (as is was then) and asked what size they preferred, and was advised that the preferred maximum size for images is 500 pixels x 375 pixels. Of course they can be 500px by anything smaller than 375px, or 375px by any size up to 500px, or any combination inbetween. It seems to have worked well for me.
