Put something in your description along the lines of.

"To buyers making an offer, if within 24 hours of auction ending, please re- submit your offer when the item is relisted, or leave your id in the message section.  I cannot guarantee I will receive and act on your offer if made on the last day."

PS.  Have you checked the buyer number against a former offer that did eventuate in a sale.  It may be a previous buyer.  From what I've had on offerers and read each person gets a number and with that seller it stays the same.  I could be wrong tho.  Also did you have a watcher.  If you did a polite email to them saying that you missed an offer from someone and if it was them would they care to re submit it.

sb47 - I don't think including the text you have suggested will make any difference. Buyers seem to just look at titles and photos and don't read anything else, including suggestions you make about MAO or anything else you write in the description.  And there is nothing we can do about it.

Also people that are used to eBay may think it works the same here and that is a  MAO can be accepted immediately if the seller has set limits etc .

MAO is great concept but once it was introduced no further thought or alterations have gone into it . About time this gets updated.

You can but only try Magnolia.  If you don't try then you don't know if its worked do you.

Maybe offerers should not be silly enough to make offers close to the end time of an item? Maybe they should just put a bid in? Radical, I know.

An offer is valid for 3 days unless the item ends before that.

Maybe thats why there are so many offers at the last minute because the poor buyer can be hanging for 72 hours waiting to see if their offer is accepted- Puts people off, the buyer may leave it till nearer the time, get sidetracked, put an offer in and hope for the best.

The buyer can be in limbo and should another seller list the same item the buyer wants,  the buyer still cant buy until he gets the accept or decline response from the original seller- thats if the seller even bothers to respond.

72 hours is a heck of a long time to wait.

The other side of course is that there are alot of impulse buyers out there as well they may not realise that an offer doesnt carry over.

I would like to see make an offer be valid for only 24hours and it rolled over (within that time frame) if the seller hasnt responded and the item is relisted.

The whole thing just needs to be tweaked so that the seller can put a minimum acceptable offer amount in and then there's no need for the buyer to hang on waiting as it will either be accepted or declined on the spot .

Easy to fix , you'd think.

I don't offer that even where it is an available option, isabella.

Here, my ASP is usually the minimum I will accept. There, my BIN is the minimum I will accept. Full stop. I discount here because we're Aussie and the fees are low. There, I'm competing against the world, it costs me a lot more to sell, and I expect close to true value.

I have NO idea why Admin and Tech Team are ignoring not only my emails, but other members emails about this issue

Even a reply stating No would be fine....but PLEASE at least respond

"buyers please leave your id"

No thanks because the offers may be refused because of who the buyer is then there would probably be threads on how sales were lost because the 'wrong people' made the offers.

And / or emails going around warning others what a cheapskate the buyer is. Or even named and shamed on Facebook

well there's an interesting thought.

Not once have I ever seen anyone named and shamed on FB that i can remember. Or even people complaining about NPB's and such. You'd think the place would be rife with the blabbing of secrets but the urge to name and shame must die when you leave an auction site forum.

Or I'm in with the wrong crowd.

You and me both remmers , I've never in amongst our FB friends seen anyone say anything as such . Frankly discussing qs or their members is also not high on our priority list when were on FB

Considering our pages are open to the public , I'd like to actually see some proof of this.

I don't think she was accusing us of doing it. Just saying it was possible. And I suppose it is.

I see occasional comments on QS made over there but considering the high proportion of chatters who no longer sell or buy here I'm a bit amazed it's not many more comments made.

I have a lady on my list there, not sure if she sells here as well, who sells her items through FB and must have a lot of problems with people telling her they want stuff then not bothering to pay. I've seen her announcing that anything not picked up or at least contacted about by a certain date will go back up for sale and occasionally a few comments along the lines of "thanks a lot for wasting my time" but never seen her put a name or even hint at a name.

But it's actually quite positive over there concerning selling. Does't get talked about much by most but when someone links to an item, be it here or anywhere, that they have for sale you'll see heaps of others race in to "like" or "share" the link. And others will actively promote your stuff for you by linking to you or your items and telling everyone how wonderful it is.

I hadn't thought of it before until I saw the comment made about naming and shaming and thought.......ooo why aren't there people naming and shaming over there? They have the opportunity to do it but don't.

I say we take the whole QS forums over there and happy them up a bit yes???

Go start a petition page over there Pash to further your cause for this.

Yep , not a lot get's said about qs other then links posted and people ticking 'like' etc , fair bit of sales go that way.

I've never seen anyone bagging qs either or their members on FB , unlike on twitter where there's a few basket cases

oh geez I haven't logged into Twitter in so very long. Really should. I get live Tweet feeds on my FB from people that seem really interesting. Even our local weather station now Tweet feeds to FB every 15 minutes.

We should all probably be Twittering our latest things for sale, feeding them to FB and becoming fabulously wealthy.

See the smiley face?

That means it's a joke for crying out loud and in relation to people saying they want to name and shame on here.

Sheesh!

"
unlike on twitter where there's a few basket cases"

So, can I ask for some proof of this?

"ooo why aren't there people naming and shaming over there?"

Probably because if it is open to the public then the person being discussed would see it?

Same as for here.

maybe but name and shame normally means put the name up, and I've seen some do exactly that here. So the potential to say ok everyone beware of this person is there but not being made use of.

The local sellinga and buying groups have had naming and shaming happen a few times though and also alerted other groups to warn their members of certain people. So it can happen, it's just not happening as an overflow from this site.

Then you would also have seen me speak up against it at least often if not every time.

But I shall try to keep at bay a sense of humour about anything relating to here. Or Facebook or Twitter or anywhere else.
Shrugs.

I don't buy or sell here anymore( although i am watching a couple of things) but i still plug those who are on my facebook list items if they sell here.

Only have to look at a certain bulk seller to know there's a few nut cases bagging the place via twitter.
