Bulk updates
Can anyone advise about doing bulk updates using Express Lister?  I had a change I needed to make in most of my items, so I exported them all to a backup in Express Lister, made the change in the backup file, and now have them all fixed and restored into Express Lister.
But they are in as new listings it seems, so I assume if I upload them they are not going to update the current listings, but make duplicates.  That might be OK if there is an easy way to delete ALL my current listings from the site, and its not going to cost anything in either fees, or make a difference to any search rankings.  I know if you make a new listing and delete the old one in Ebay it is a major problem for search ranking. But am hoping its not the same here.
Any advice is welcome. Thanks.

Hi,  I use express lister all the time but I have never done a bulk update with it.  However Express Lister is FREE to use and it is very easy to withdraw the items you have for sale now. That can be done from a drop down box on the top of your selling page.  As far as I know anything changed in Express Lister will list as a new listing.  Nothing will change in search ranking as long as you have not made any changes that will cause that.  To delete all current listing will be FREE as long as you have nothing with bids on.  If you have anything with a bid on it just leave it and let it end orherwise that item will cost you $3 to delete. (think its $3 with a bid on)

Sorry the system would not take it all on 1 answer.

To delete listed items in bulk go to your selling page and tick the little box under bulk actoin=click on Bulk Action and select Withdraw Items and all items will go into your unsold items list and you can delete from there.

Hope that helps.

OK .... Last question first .... Search ranking.
eBay search ranking is a convoluted system that allegedly chooses Best Match ....
The end result is a little like the Aust Cricket team's best match .... a poor result ....

Quicksales default search is by Date- Ending First.
So you will only drop down the search results by the time you have items listed for and steadily move up. On Quicksales, everyone gets a even shot at the top slot.

Item removal ...... No charge unless you have bids on an item.

Assumption correct .... you will have duplicate listings.

Bulk removal .... quick and easy.
Click here to go to your items selling list:
Selling
Top of the column on the left side, click inside the square box.
This will select all items.
Bottom of page on same side, click
Bulk Action ¥
Click the first drop down box, Withdraw Items, then follow the prompts.

Load your new listings from EL.

WARNING: Using the links in this post will immediately port you to your listings.
I accept zero responsibilty for anyone inadvertently removing all their listings due to this post.

 Cheers for the replies  :)
I think it will be best if I take the time to get everything exactly right in EL, then delete all current listings and upload the whole lot.  I have about 40 current listigns to correct then about 150 to bring over from Ebay so it should save me a whole lot of time.
All the best,
Kevin

Kev

Just be aware that when you load listings, if they all have the same duration and start time, they will all re-list/need to be re-listed at the same time.

Either use the scheduled start time (free/no additional charge here), differing listing durations, do them in batches of 10, or a mix of all three to avoid a heavy workload happening at one instance further down the track.

Once you get used to using Express Lister you will find the system very easy.  When you do bring your listings here and you do the editing in EL please make sure you remove all references to or the word ebay from every listing otherwise it maby be reported as advertising for over there.
Good luck and many sales.

Thanks again all for the responses. Some very useful points.  The move didn't turn out quite as quick and simple as I'd hoped, partly due to the need to manually find all the references to 'ebay' in the listings (I have reasonable complex templates with links to various things in my Ebay pages, which need to be changed to the corresponding QS/O ones, as well as lotts of codes inserted by Inkfrog that I use for my Ebay listing.  But the biggest isue was that by the time I exported from Ebay, then manually edited the export file to fix errors, it wouldn't import into Express Lister any more.  At least, not all in one go.  I AM able to import them 1 at a time, which still saves a lot of effort over creating them from scratch, so I'm not complaining.
All the best,
Kevin
