Beauty salons - what makes one stand out (in a good way)
 Hello beauties!

I'm setting up my home beauty salon and trying to make it the best it can be. I'm wanting the experience to stand out (in a good way) in the client's mind.

As an example, one thing that I was once told, and clients love is to give a scalp massage whilst an eyelash tint is on. I did a facial today for a regular client and did a hand and arm massage (along with a scalp massage) whilst the mask was on, and she loved it.

What stands out when you go to a salon?? Any ideas apreciated :o)

Melissa

One thing I have found most clients love is a foot massage.

Soak/Disinfect their feet in warm water whilst while putting on face mask.

Massage or do reflexology/pressure points (do both feet at same time - takes about 5 minutes tops) and finish with a moisturiser and wrap their feet in a towel - by the end of their facial treatment their feet should have absorbed all the moisturiser -  Just give their feet a good wipe over with the towel before they get up off the table.  (This is not a pedicure)

Ask your client before hand what their preference is.

Not everyone likes a head/scalp massage - it can trigger a migraine in some people - whilst others hate their feet being touched.

Personally Missy, I love a hand massge as an extra, and I feel that would be easier for you as well,( time wise certainly). Don't get me wrong, I love pedicures too, but they are more time consuming (for you), and time is money in the beauty business.....I wish you well in your endeavour....Puddi

I go to a home beauty salon and the things that make me go back are the personalised service.  I'm not just another face/client.  I had a facial just recently during our school holidays - she sent me a message on facebook advising of a special she had on at the moment for her regulars.  School holidays are a quiet time for her so to drum up a bit of business for herself and to give something back to her regulars she has specials on.  Also during the facial while the mask was on she gave me a hand and arm massage which was devine!!! :)

Those "little things" are what makes you stand out from the other salons.

Hope this helps.

Chees,
Ruth

Thanks Nefer, Puddi and Ruth. I know I just naturally give a scalp massage without much thinking as to if they don't like scalp massages or they might be heading off somewhere afterwards and their hair is now a bit of a mess ...oops. I did give out a couple of GV for facials recently for fundraisers and said i'd include a foot treatment with it (still got to figure out what exactly that is going to include). But I do want to include something extra in my treatments just for that point of difference.

Thanks  & keep the ideas coming :)

Have clear pricing either out front if its a shop or on a board inside the home where the salon is.
Cleanliness and white towells folded nicely are good too so the customers know everything is fresh.
Loyalty discounts perhaps if you can afford it - refer a friend get 5% off your next visit?

Actually I have been thinking about printing out my prices and framing them for inside my room both for my client's sake and for mine...making it clear for everyone.

Yes, clear pricing is definately a must. Nice, bright lights. Makes everything look nice and clean. Minimal crowding/clutter.

I think remembering someones name and a nice smile and a cup of tea is a great start:)
