AVG??
Hi Everybody,

Does anybody here use AVG these days?  If so, how are you finding it and what version are you using?

Are you having trouble with it missdaisy ?

You should always try and have the latest/updated version . I don't use it any longer as I now use Microsft Security Essentials but AVG is a good program to have.

I have the latest version of AVG (free one) I have it set to update automatically and have never had a problem with it.

ellencool,do you know which version you have?

ok, reason I'm asking is

I used AVG very happily for years.  and updated automatically.  then along came v9 and my whole computer went haywire.  Couldn't do a thing with it. I eventually deleted it (after hearing of so many other people having the same trouble), and dl Avira.  Been using it happily for a few years now.  Just lately I've been getting soooooo many emails (2-3 daily) of people wanting to sell me cheap drugs or something to increase my p....s size.  When I spoke to the ever helpful people of bigpond overseas, the continual message I got was that it was an antivirus problem.  So I thought if everybody is happy with AVG again, I might try changing back.  So, the more opinions I can get of it, the better.

  thank ye.

I was using AVG but switched to Avast a while back - no trouble with either.   They've actually installed the paid, professional version of Avast here at work but I still have the free one.

Hi Missdaisy,  I have always used AVG and never had any problem with it.  I just had a look and I have
AVG Free Edition 2012.  It updates automatically and scans automatically but if I do a lot of searching on the net I go and do a manual scan when I am finished just to be doubly sure I didn't get a virus.  I still use Windows XP Professional.

I used to get those type of emails but not now thank goodness.
That won't be your anti virus.
that will be your junk mail filter. do you have it turned on?.
I also have add blocker, but I don't think that stops those emails.
also try.. bounce back to sender... block sender... once your junk mail filter is turned. that should stop them.
I think that is how I done it. Good Luck.

Thanks blackduck, that sounds encouraging.

rich, I block sender, but they come from a different sender every time.  bounce back to sender I've never heard of, and junk mail filter. hmmm wonder where I'll find that.  thanks.  I'll have a go at that if I can find it.

Use to have AVG installed but had nothing but issues earlier last year and got rid of it.  Now use AVAST with no problems.  Am using XP Home (laptop) and XP Pro (pc).

Thanks nefer.  It seems like it might be time to give Avast a try.  thanks a lot everybody.

My AVG is AVG 2012 free edition, updates automatically, scans emails and warns me if my browser is using too many resources and advises me to close it and reopen it (I always have multiple sites open at the same time lol)
