Hi i brought one last year Christmas to be precise and my children love it.

How old are the children?

i was having a chat from one of the sales people at EB games and he said the motion camera ones etc coming out  will also be introducing more family friendly games so its definately getting and they will rival the wii.

The plus as well rather than the wii is you wont need to buy the various equipment to play interactive games as the camera picks up your body movements :-)

We bought an xbox 360 for my boys and had no end of trouble with it, was sent to be repaired under warranty more than 5 times in less than 7 months, two times the so called repaired items did not work at all.

Save yourself the grief, build a gaming computer like I did and save your money and many days of torture with buying microsoft junk. I threw the xbox in the bin where it deserves to be.

I've got a Wii, my son has a 360. the major difference I find is that the xbox games have more violence in the games. Most (of the ones my son has) are fighting games. He also has the internet 'live' which involves co-operative play so is a positive in that way but if your kids are younger, this may not be a plus. (He's a teenager)
I find the Wi games to be less high pressure, more fun and the graphics aren't as full of gratuitous blood and gore but still have a competative element. Perfect if you'd rather keep the kids entertained without the fighting aspect. Accessories atm are extremely cheap at chains stores like 'Game'. I picked up just about every accessory for the games I play, (sport, car racing, mario, etc) for about $30.
Just as an aside, I've heard people say that if they wanted 'family' games with the motion sensors they would have bought a Wii a long time ago. The consensus amongst my son's friends is that that aspect of 360 is only a copy of Wii and not worth getting into.

hi-ya darl

we have an xbox 360.ps2.ps3 and wii and 2 ds lites

we have had no problems with any of the consoles or ds lites

we find that games are easy to get for all(just research what you want online first)

i play all of these at different times and dont have a favourite.cause each has different games that you cant play on the other

we brought an extra wireless controller and a  duel control charger(to save on the batteries)

we got the bundle that came with the system,1 control and 4 games(pretty good deal from eb)

thankyou nathaniel

check with your local store as i know there is a newer model of the xbox 360 being released very soon that is new and slimline, has some sensor thingy being released in november.

from what i saw at my local shop they were around $450

we have all consoles and the 360 is good, we have had 2 problems, the first was fixed under warranty, the 2nd we had to replace but it has been well used.  i think the newer models will have the problems fixed but am not 100% sure of that.

From what i have been told the xbox 360 is a very good console.
I think you can upload games from the web.
If there is a new slimline model coming out, then i wouldn't buy a new release because so many of the new models seem to have problems and the second ones to come out have been changed to remove the faults.

This was the same with the PS2.
I bought a 2nd hand PS2 and was told to look for a certain model, which was the 2nd release and i have not had a problem.
Did the same when my grandsons were buying a 2nd hand PS2 from a local pawn shop and they haven't had a problem with their's.

Hi,

We just purchased a 360 Elite last month for our son from Dick Smith for approx. $250. We did check all the other stores to see what they had to offer. Dick Smith came out trumps at it had the extras (2 games + extra attachments) with it that the others did not.
From memory Harvey Norman had them cheaper with 4 games but as my son is 11 two of the games were not rated for him to play. Also if we were to purchase the extras separately the cost would have been a lot more than what the difference in price was.
We purchased some extra games from JB HiFi , they have been the cheapest so far that we have found

Hope this helps
