Anyone have a Platinum vShop?
Hello all I would like to like to see what the Platinum vShop Looks like and is it really worth $165 per month. (Personally I wish that was per year, especially for those who are like me and do not sell very well)

I would like to know the differences between the Basic vShop and Premium vShop and is it worth it in the long run?
I currently have a Basic vShop so can I upgrade at a later date, or do I have to close this and make a new one?

Thanks in advance,

Warren

Hi there, I think in the meantime that I will be sticking to the basic v shop as I feel that $165 is a month is very steep for me.

The help pages have all the info you need Warren, in particular this link.

I upgraded last weekend, I'm not a big seller, but I decided to invest in a bit of an experiment to see whether the old adage 'you have to spend money to make money' really holds true.

I have had a sharp increase in sales, but it's far too early to attribute this
to the Makeover, time will tell. I have decided to give it six months to get a really good idea of how it is working.

boo is an inspiration to each and every one of us, she has demonstrated that we should all grab our opportunities by the scruff of the neck and run with them throwing caution to the wind. Like her we can possibly multiply our sales and achieve the undreamed of goal of breaking even. Unfortunately I lack the courage to take this step but I eagerly look forward to reading of the successes of others more daring

I don't profess to know what is best for anyone else spade, neither do I seek to inspire anyone, I simply make decisions to suit myself.   I am happy to share my experiences when asked, and I don't belittle others when they share theirs.  But if it makes you feel good to make fun of me because you believe my decisions are foolish, knock your socks off.  I will continue to do what I choose and not worry about whether the decision meets with your approval.

good on you Boo for having a go,i'd like to know just what $1,800 a year buys though.i'm going to have a look in your shop.
its very flash Boo,very nice to look in,no nasty colours either that hurt the eyes

I would venture an opinion that a significant percentage, perhaps even a majority of sellers on this site came here in anger from that other site because of the burden of fees imposed on them. Those fees were imposed by the site and the sellers were either unable or unwilling to shoulder that burden. If they now want to hang a $165.00 a month millstone around their neck then good luck to them. Some may see it as a calculated risk, a gamble, it may work, who knows ?

12 times $165.00 is $1980.00 not $1800.00 and you still have to add commissions on sales

that was just a guess Spade,i wouldn't spend that much on something myself that i'm not sure actually does anything.though Boo does have a nice shop.but that could be her set up,not the platinum thing,as i don't know what the difference is
i think if someone is spending $165 a month, then there shouldn't be any sales commision at all, thats a scam.unless it goes over a certain amount

I pay premium fees on one store - which will revert to basic when they say it will.  And I have received all the newsletters from admin telling about the benefits and positives that I would get for $165 a month.

I did some experimenting myself nearly 18 months ago about which website I might want to start for myself - and there are a lot more bells and whistles on what I chose compared to what is being offered here on quicksales.

After a lot of hardwork - the website is just starting to be a good asset and bring in the sales - so not sure how long it would take using the one here on Quicksales that they are offering.    Even adding in the small amount of advertising that I  pay for myself - and the website fees + domain name doesn't equal to $165 per month.

Each to their own - and those that choose this option - I really hope it works out for you.  But I would be wanting good tangible evidence of the traffic and sales it would be generating - and there is of course no guarantee of that.

By the way guys Boo stated that he was only going to do it for 6 Months meaning he will only be paying $990.
I juat hope that his selling covers that price though.

thats true Warren, but whether its 1 month,or 12 months, where is the $165 going?they shouldn't be paying sales commission for starters,i think Spade hit the nail on the head with that

There seem to be a lot of extra features in a Platinum Store versus a Basic Store.

For example you have free access to this:

Free listing enhancements per month

  • 1 x Home Page Features
  • 2 x Category Specials
  • 2 x Bold
  • 2 x Highlighted

So obviously more exposure (of the decent kind) on the site itself, which is great for buyers that are already here, but I wonder if a Premium Store also improves the Sellers position on Google, which is probably where it matters most.

Having said that - I think the right keywords in a title are still the most important factors on Google, store or no store............

I have never had one, never wanted one, you will see as many people say they are good as you will see those that say they are a waste of time and money. The $5.00 a month shops are good value I suppose if you think they will increase sales but $165.00 is ridiculous.

Replied by spade on 18-Dec-2011 12:20 (Ref 2325171) Report

I look at it this way, was this site started and kept going for nearly six years only as an altruistic platform to bring buyers and sellers together so they could make some money or was it so some entrepreneur could profit from a boom in online auctions ? I reckon the latter and there is nothing wrong with that.

If you believe the latter than you must believe that it is in the owners best interest to encourage more sales so that profits are generated by sales and not by charging for features that many cannot or will not pay for. To charge extra for special features is an admission that they believe there would be more sales if everyone used them, ergo, they should be used by everyone

There's always the Basic Store for those whose turnover doesn't justify the expense of a Platinum Store, but each Store type has its merit  for the seller.

I feel the same way about the $500 eBay wants for their version ......
Especially as it excludes (and still charges for) a lot of the things that are included in a Platinum v-Shop.

Spade said
I have never had one, never wanted one,
It's nice to see you accept your limitations, Spade.
To charge extra for special features is an admission that they believe there would be more sales if everyone used them
Ergo, seeing as you said it, it must be true. So the special features included with the Platinum v-Shop should result in more sales.

I notice that the latest emails I receive refer to it as a "Professional vShop" ... Maybe there is a clue in there somewhere ....????

One inclusion that interests me but I haven't seen anyone dicuss is the provision of a sub-domain.
I can see that being useful for people like me who are not particularly geeky & also time poor ....

germanww2 don't give up on it as your items are specific and can benefit greatly from it .

You can also show off your items on social network places such as FaceBook by clicking on the 'share' Facebook icon on every listing you have ( it will then show on your Facebook profile etc) ( with or without a vShop)

I can see no benefit in a Platinum shop unless the turnover warrants it .

I don't really have any limitations, I do not want to sell more than I do because I do it for an interest and not for money, it is really just an extension of the business I used to have and it occupies my time, I may even retire completely but can't make up my mind

WW - I see you also have a store open, so it's all good -

I just wonder why you selected such a pale color for the Store font and categories.

I'd thought you would have picked more of a WW II kick-a.. color

Anyway that is just my opinion ............

I can sort of see why you don't see the need for a v-shop. Most of your items fall into just one of the QS categories (books & mags), which in turn are quite well sub-categorised.

Most of my items fall into women's clothing, and when I first started selling here, I was appalled at how badly I felt they were sub-categorised. First decision you have to make is type (e.g. shirts, pants), then size. May be it's the way I shop when I shop online, but the first thing I look for when browsing for women's clothes is size. Which is NOT the way it is set up here. You have to decide on type first, then size. I want my buyers to go to size first, which is how I have set up my v-shop categories. I also don't like the way plus size clothing is treated so differently. Far far fewer subcategories. I maintain the same subcategories whether they are size 12 or 22 (except in those where I have fewer items, there are less subcategories). But if you want to buy, for example, a short-sleeved shirt in size 14, it is easy to find in my v-shop.

Of course it is different if you are shopping in a B&M store - you usually go to type first, then look for your size. But it is difficult to do that here. Which is why I have a v-shop. But my sales could not justify paying for a premium shop. I don't use, and never have, any of the features that are included with it, as I doubt very much that would increase my sales. My feeling is that the only thing that would increase sales - for everyone - is an increase in traffic, which could only come about if more people knew about the site. But I am also wary of urging management to undertake advertising, as that can only result in fee increases - whether listing or sales. And I certainly couldn't maintain 1800+ items if listing fees were introduced. However, I don't think I would find an increase in sales fees so bad if that resulted in some advertising and thus more traffic, and hopefully, more sales. .

 Hi
Mine a Platinum shop
Mine was free - as it's for the Children's Cancer Institute of Australia xharity

I've been unwell of late so haven't been able to give it the attention it deserves
but- I like it a lot :-)

WW11 - your  shop is looking good :-)

as for Danielles Dream - that shop is for Charity and admin kindly donated all shop & FVFs
so- this great shop is free and it is a Platinum shop @ $165 a month

The first thing I noted was :
Note the address when you get to the shop- it's not quicksales / shop ****

it's actually
Danielles Dream / quicksales

I would imagine if someone types Danielles dream into google - they'd find it !

Just tried & seems there's a show / movie called danielle's Dream with at least 7 episodes BUT - even though there's this show- I am 4th on Google and 6th and 7th :-)
not bad :-)
