Any ideas on this stone?
I have a pendant with an unknown stone (measures approx 23mm x 17mm) - has anyone any ideas on what it might be? And perhaps an idea of value?

The stone looks like Blue Opal.

Would not know the value, take it to a few jewellers & have it valued & someone here might have an idea of the value.

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I doubt it is blue opal - there is no blue in it at all, just black and greys. It may possibly be agate as this seems to be a very broad term for a whole range of colours of semi-precious stones, although most agates seem to be striped. I think whatever it is, the stone is set in silver with quite a pretty design immediately above it. Will have to clean it up and perhaps take it to a jeweller.

It looks to me like one of the Jasper family perhaps Ocean Jasper?

Best thing to do is to take it to a gemologist  or a geologist someone who knows their stones.

A jeweler would be unlikely to know about this type of stone!!

Thanks for the suggestions - I agree that a jeweller might not be the rtight person to ask since it is not a precvious stone.

Possibly a Moss Agate

Hi . I think it is what's called 'Dalmation Agate'. Looks like it's set in Pewtwer ? No idea of Value; sorry.
Cheers, Dita.
PS. Just saw a Dalmation Agate / SSilver  Pendant sold on you know where for $6.50. Looks smaller than yours though. D.

Hi Dita
Dalmatian is a great way to describe this stone, so even if I can't find out what it really is, it describes it rather well. Not sure if the metal is pewter, or badly tarnished silver.

It's a form of Agate...but I don't think it's Dalmation or Moss Agate.  There is a picture of your stone...look at the top right hand corner...it's almost identical

I will just put the link as the picture is huge
