Admins latest announcement....

Watermarks on images

Item images displayed in listing detail pages will have a quicksales watermark displayed in one of the corners of the image. This will help sellers enjoy the added benefit of increased protection against copyright infringement. This will be rolled out gradually across the site over the coming weeks, starting with vShop items.

Regards,
The quicksales team

but if the WM just says quicksales then how does it stop someone else on the site from stealing it?

If you steal a watermarked photo and then use it in another listing and upload it it should show two watermarks.

You can use someone else's photo and it'll only show one watermark so long as you use it on the same site.  The second watermark will be in the same place as the first one so nobody will know any different.

If the watermark is in the corner you can save the picture and then crop that bit out if it's the sort of picture that's got extra space around the item, so it's not foolproof.

I hope the watermarks ARE in the corner because I hate pictures with a huge watermark across the middle so you can't see what the item really looks like.  I've seen sellers do this and they have no idea it can lose them a lot of sales.  I paste my own pictures in so it won't affect me much, so long as it doesn't affect the gallery pictures.

Yeah I think the rabbit is onto it. Otherwise if you relisted using sell similar with copy and paste you'd get two watermarks then three, four.......

Watermarks are not foolproof & can be removed if you try.

Here's one of mine that was watermarked & I just rubbed it out with my photo editing program.

Who's going to be the first to show us what it looks like when they get one?

I had an OZtion watermark on the bottom a few of my photos, it must have been something they were working on before and now will they change to quicksales?

Plus I agree it is not foolproof.
