Admin you must do something to get traffic to our sales.... I just give up!
Please cant you do what ebay does and get more traffic to our listings? No one seems to see them. I have had so little sales it is ridiculous, yet I sell heaps on ebay, mainly DVDS, books and CDs. So I give up... nothing for sale anymore, what is the point of doing all the work, seller picks of the days, sales, marking things down, doing bulk packs, auctions, BIN if there are no customers? Everything that works successfully for me elsewhere, didnt work here. I give up. So as I am moving interstate anyway I thought, I shall just end all my listings and go. And before anyone says oh why didnt you do more advertising? I DID. I had two hits a day on SPOTD and only one person responded in all those months. I sent out flyers to my ebay customers and I told everyone about Q/S and I gave out business cards I had printed on, with my referral number and I didnt even get one of those. I have been selling on facebook for 3 weeks and made $500 on a garage sale site there. So its not like I dont know how to sell. There is something wrong here on Q/S but I cant put my finger on it... all those fees I paid, for nothing. I never ever made enough to cover my costs and my suggestions to Q/S for them to allow us to use our referral money towards our fees was ignored, more than once. I didnt even get a repy. So I am quite disenchanted. Sorry but I feel let down and disappointed.

God That font is horrid. What fees? If you mean shop fees or relisting fees you had a choice there, that's hardly Quicksales fault.

Good luck with your move, bit of a pointless thread really when your moving anyway, but also because this has been discussed a hundred times & more and nothing much has changed, although it should be picking up sales wise now because Xmas is only around the corner.

You mean your giving up on the competition to be the seller with biggest inventory of unsold item?

I don't suppose my opinion would be worth much as I am not trying to make a living out of this - just extra money to go towards holidays etc.

No-one can tell you why you don't do as well here as elsewhere and there are a lot of sellers doing very well on this site.  I also do spotd (when I remember lol) but usually only when I have listed new items into my shop.

I recently was away for a month (on a holiday) and my shop was closed.  Took a week after I came back for people to find me again and in the past 6 days have had 6 sales.  Not a lot to some, but satisfying for me.  I agree with the other member too, Xmas is coming and with it so should the sales.  I'll be browsing shortly to find gifts for family etc.

I do make enough each month to cover my fees (shop and fvf, because they are the only fees I incur)  with a bit left over for me.  So I will continue to run my shop, introduce new items and one day maybe I'll be run off my feet.

Given the site is collect zero listing fees and next to no selling fees they have no money nor incentive to put time or dollars into this site, puzzles me how it continues to function with lack of funds it brings in for the owners.

I am not giving up on this site. I actually like it here too. My sales have been alright actually. You dont have me complaining. Also because you are moving interstate, doesnt mean you have stop selling here. I have also made quite a few friends here as well and that I feel makes it worthwhile too. Also alot of people who sell and buy on ebay, may not like Quicksales and prefer to stay there. Its the same here. For us who love this site, hate ebay. So it can go both ways. If the other site is successful, doesnt mean that this site is doing bad..Business is different everywhere. And just like any business, you can have your good months and your bad months. Its just how business opperates. As Monty said, Christmas is  just around the corner. I feel this this site will be busy. ALot of us work and have families and dont have enough time to go to the shops, so Quicksales will be busy, especially with Christmas coming up.

Hope everyone is well?

I get more clicks here for similar items  than on eBay, so we do get the traffic here but sales are slower than I'd like!!!!!!

I want my referral fees as well... yesterday someone I told about quicksales joined but did not understand the referral process and I missed a referral again. I am on the brink of being able to get my referral fees but something like 40 c short and have been for about 3 years...

Lane_ends, the only people who can say for sure how much money management have coming in from selling fees, shop charges and listing extras is admin and I'm sure they are not about to tell you or I.  Just because some of the relatively few sellers who frequent the forum are complaining of no sales, doesn't mean there are none.  Admin once confirmed that only about 3% of the population of the site use the forums, so there is a good chunk of sellers out there going about their business without bothering to let us know how they are doing, and the odds are there are a good proportion of those that are doing very well indeed.  The site continues to grow at around the same rate it always has, and despite claims of low traffic, my personal experience is that lately I have many more lookers and watchers than in the past.  In fact last month with over 1000 listings (more than I  had on offer for several months previously) at the end of the month there wasn't a single item in my list that hadn't had at least 3 views, and over a third had numbers in the double digits.  Not only that but over 10% of my items had watchers and half of those had multiple watchers.  To me all that says the buyers are here, if they are not buying from me, I'd say that is more likely to be something to do with what I'm offering rather than what admin are doing.

I would be more than happy to pay a listing fee to keep the site honest and useable to all sellers.
All the fake sellers would not list thousands of items if there was a fee.
I really believe Just Listed on the front page is a total turn off to new & old buyers, as it seems whenever I look its bombarded with fake items which are very often identical items.
When a seller lists with Express Lister the whole of that feature is swamped with the same items, while smaller sellers items dont even get a look in!
In life you only get what you pay for, I do believe, so  if everyone wants everything to be free, well so be it, but dont expect huge gains. Marian

I sell on both sites and find sales about even, and am happy to not pay the high fees here that I do over yonder, the beauty of QS is the easy way of listing, Ebay are always changing things and it is so annoying its not funny, I cleared my clicks 4 days ago and already have had heaps more so there are people  visiting this site, I have had far more people visit here than on Ebay and I can see where the traffic comes from. As said before it is free to list with minimum FVF fees, and you cant get any better than that.
And someone is getting sales, I know because  I have bought 10 items today and am still looking, I buy here before I go anywhere else.

Hi everybody...just got home and I am reading all of the above comments

I am sorry that some are not happy here....and yes who knows what works and what doesn't but surely closing up shop and going is not the answer?

Anyway Beani...good luck on your new venture...and I hope it's a better 'fit' for you than QS was

EDIT: I think it's a good idea for those trying to make a living, to not have ALL their eggs in one basket.

For me it's easy to list everything on here and see if I get a sale a day, as I had always planned.  Some days I do, some I don't....but it seems to pan out in the end

Couldn't agree more Marian (with a listing fee that is) but I think you're on a hiding to nothing with your obsession with fakes. They aren't exclusive to QS. They're everywhere and a listing fee won't change that.

What it might do is get better quality items listed and get rid of the under two dollar items.

Look I'm happy if I get 1 sale here a month. But 6 months ago quicksales called me at home and said if I came back I would have a free v shop for a month and that they were also going to be doing advertising for the site to attract more buyers

Well here we are 6 months later and no advertising. Personally it doesnt really bother me but I can imagine some here would be furious and probably feeling a bit duped also.

I'm sorry; I couldn't read the OP due to caps & font colour. I have read all other responses. I'm happy with my current sales. Aug & Spt were unusually slow for me, making me despondent, but have picked up for Oct already.

I'm paying for a wedding in the first week of Nov & my QS sales have made this possible. It is possible to make money here on QS.

Aug & Spt were unusually slow for me, making me despondent

Sorry ttlg, but you must've been saving all year( or more) in order to pay for this wedding from QS sales alone, unless your having  sandwiches & water for the reception.

See Aug & Sept to me shouldn't be that slow, this is when people start getting their tax back.
I don't really think the recent slow sales can be blamed solely on QS though, our economy is shot and then you have other sites popping up including FB, auctions sites have to start taking these other sites into consideration when planning their growth strategies otherwise they are just going to be left behind, and lets face it!!! QS sales wise has been struggling for a while now
, even before the turn of the above events.
Qs is not the only low fee site anymore, you get a FB page and it's totally free, not saying it doesn't have it's own set of problems as it does, but some people are really making a living out of it. QS needs to do something, I don't know what exactly, but while ebay are going backwards with the things they are putting on Aussie sellers i would say NOW would be a great time for QS  to do that something. Would be a shame to see this site come to an end.
It's nice that people are getting more lookers on their items, but we all know that unless it turns into sales theres no real point of celebrating those lookers.

Font hard to read but Im with you.  Ive had one sale lately but yet on ebay sell something nearly everyday (when you average it out).  I even sell on my works website more than I do on here too (sad really).

Im not giving up and still have item on here listed which I tweak regularly in hopes they will sell.

We definately need more advertising

There really is an opportunity for qs to become more creative in putting it's name out there , especially now that eBay is most definately trying to alianate most of it's members by messing with both sellers and buyers ways of using the site.

If methods of advertising that cost high $ are not feasible , think outside the loop .

For instance the qs Facebook page get's little attention - go and use it qs - and members here so it becomes a daily updated page .

I didn't realise that it had been six months since the phone calls were made. That's extremely unfortunate as they were made to lure sellers back with promises of better things. I know quite a few that were phoned and most said no. Some got numerous calls and still said no. So they've now got some sellers back and six months later still nothing that was promised to them? Good luck getting them back a third time.

I know I know, doom and gloom, knockers, and so forth. But that has now given the site a very big kick to reputation with bigger sellers who sell on multiple sites and will be sharing that experience. REALLY BAD!

The answer is really simple and Christmas being on the way won't make ANY difference to sales unless the site is ADVERTISED and the general community made aware that the site exists.

Quicksales has the potential to BE a great selling/buying option to ebay but the marketing department lacks focus.Time to listen QS. LET PEOPLE KNOW YOU EXIST .

I see heaps of ads on foxtel for carsales.com.au

I've only had a couple of sales in the last month but I am staying.  I am happy now that I don't have to pay for auto relist as I have a Vshop.  It gives me a chance to showcase a lot of items that I can't afford to list on the 'other site'.  I also like the friendly atmosphere here, the forums and also the fact that there isn't the star rating regarding postage etc.  I'm not pressured to get my items made up so quickly that I end up working weekends or worry about losing powerseller status from over impatient customers feedback.

As for the Carsales advertising, I do have to say that I noticed the gigantic billboard at the AFL grand final for Carsales ( Yay for the Cats !!).   Would have been nice to be Car Sales / Quicksales - imagine the traffic we could have gotten from that!

Cheers, Ang.  :-)

After all this time - I still don't know what the answer is for sales.  As I said in the past - I don't think I ever knew.

I have 3 different stores - and the last sale in any of them was in June.

I don't mind paying the small store fee - but the rest of it is just keeping stuff listing.  I don't know whether I am hoping anymore - just using the listings as a way of showing what is available.

There are lots of reasons why - and no everybody has money at the moment - but the same things are selling - for the same prices etc.

With the free listing - I am still listing new items all the time  - but little or no interest.

& I only sell anything here when I have lots of items for sale. If I have one or 2 items nothing sells

SUGGESTIONS: 1. is there a quick way of copying listings (of unsold items mine) from ebay to here ?

I let my ebay buyers know about this site & that sometimes results in a sale.

Yes, you can, if you use Turbolister on ebay, you can import into quicksales's Expresslister.

How do I import items from Turbo Lister?

The above link will tell you how, but you have to install Express Lister first.   Go to the site map (down the bottom of each page), click on that, and you will see the Express Lister instructions half way down the page.  Also look at the Express Lister FAQ for more help.
